Will MS tell you what the inventory looks like?

Example, if I was calling to book a 1 bedroom for "1/1", could they tell me how many (or "plenty" or "a few") 2 bdrms are available for the week starting "1/1"? Or is this something they are not really allowed to tell you?

The vague "plenty" or "few" is about the best you can hope for. And they often won't provide info for non-home resorts unless you're inside of 7 months.

Even if they do give you info more than 7 months out, it's difficult to parse. There could be "plenty" of rooms left in the one CM's estimation...but there could be an equal or greater number of members ready and willing to book as soon as that date opens up.

I have been told there are more than 5 of a specific room type on some of my calls.
I have also been told there is 1 room available for my dates.
It has been a few years since I ask those questions.

I have had luck with them giving me some general information about availability, using terms like limited or it shouldn't be a problem. In one instance, there was only 1 and I was told that because I wanted to switch and they warned me that if we canceled and rebooked, I might lose both (which I did!)...eventually, we got it back a little while later, but it was a scary time for sure!

I am interested in trying to book Copper Creek in October, for 4 nights, and I am curious to find out in advance how it is looking with bookings, the weekend before it opens for non home resort members. I wonder if I can get a heads up, if it is available. Since I am shooting for a 2BR, I think I may have a shot. I would be ok with BR, too, so if people switch from BR to CC, that may help me as well. (I would book BR if it was available now).

I wonder if system will crash that day, with people booking CC, many switching from another resort to CC. I may have a slight edge, because I have no other room booked that I need to cancel to get the points.

If you are cordial and get the right person, they may possibly tell you about a non-home resort. I was told about HHI availability when reviewing our options one year (I was about a week outside of 7 months and she told me my odds for certain categories).
