Will MS Know Who My Guide Is?

Okay, I feel stupid for not knowing this, but we purchased while on our Alaska cruise, and although I know the first name of the gentleman that did our presentation and visited with us about buying in to DVC, I do not know his last name. Also, even if I did, would I be able to contact him at MS?

I searched thru our paperwork, and I do not have his name on anything nor did he give us a business card. I keep reading posts where people direct other DVC members to speak to their guides about various things (like what the current incentives are, etc.), but I don't know who my guide is.

I have the name of a guide that was recommended to me by another DVCer. Can I simply call and ask for her and then use her as my guide?

TIA!:goodvibes

Give DVC a Call and they will definitely be able to connect you with your Guide. It doesn't sound like you are unhappy with your particular Guide for a specific reason, you are just trying to reach him. Changing Guides is done when you have a valid reason to change and will need to speak to a Manager at DVC to do so.

Plus, you will only need your Guide for future purchases. Why don't you just get your Guide's name and give him a chance? The Guides who take turns on the cruises are usually some of the best!

Good luck, and Welcome Home! :)

Thanks for your response. I'm not at all unhappy with my guide. In all honesty, it's probably my own fault for not making sure I had a business card before we purchased. I don't need to contact him at this time, but I just wondered what I would do if we ever decided to add on or anything. I'll take your advice and find out from MS what his name is so I have it for the future.:thumbsup2 Thanks again for taking the time to respond!

No problem! Just an added thought for you - was the cruise your very first contact with a DVC Guide? If not, then your Guide will be the original you spoke with. The cruise Guides split the sale with the existing Guide. I added on BCV while on a cruise years back, and my regular Guide received a share of that sale, too. :)

Hi, Carol! The cruise was my first contact with a DVC guide. Many years ago, we sat through the presentation while on a cruise, but we didn't purchase at that time. Should I go ahead and call to find out the name of my guide just so I have it, or should I just not worry about it until I need him? Others have told me that their guides let them know when current incentives are ending and stuff like that, and I'd like for him to keep me updated if that is something they do. Thanks again!

Is there any chance you've gotten a DVC card or a Share the Magic flyer lately. Those would list your DVC guide's name on them. We also had a card stapled into the points booklet from our initial purchase. But like CarolAnnC stated you can still call DVC and they will connect you to your guide.

All I have besides the original paperwork is our membership cards. I'm going to dig through everything one more time before I bother MS. We just bought in June, so it's not likely I'll be wanting to add on any time soon anyhow. Who knows though, addonitis is quite catchy from what I've read.:rotfl:

You will find your best bet for up to date information on pricing incentives right here on the DIS. Most Guides have hundreds of clients, and thousands in some cases (like mine, lol) so there is not much opportunity for that kind of direct contact. The only cure for addonitis is to add on, lol.

Thanks for letting me know. Glad I asked on the DIS before bugging my guide. I'm trying to not even think of addonitis yet I find myself checking the current incentives and the resales at TTS every day. What's wrong with me?:lmao:

The original paperwork sent by Disney to your home usually has a page or two signed by your Guide. You might take a second look.

Thanks, Bill! I combed through all of my paperwork again, and his name wasn't anywhere. However, I did have to call MS with a different question, and they were able to tell me who my guide was.:thumbsup2 So, atleast if I do eventually act on the addonitis, I know who to call.:rotfl:
