Will kids want to swim in late November/Early December?

Are the pools relatively warm at Disney? I can't imagine swimming at that time of year, even in Florida, but I suppose kids have different tolerance levels! We are staying 3 nights at AoA the first weekend in December. They loved the Nemo pool and splashpad area last time we were there.

Thanks!

I think it depends where you are from. If you're from a northern climate (midwest, east coast, Canada), then I think it's likely the kids will want to swim. The pools are heated, so it's doable. If you're from the south, more likely they won't want to swim. Before I moved to South Carolina, I would have gone swimming in Florida any time of year. Seven years later, not any more!

We were at Poly in early December last year and my son swam every day. The temps were in the low 70s and the life guards had jackets on at times, but it didn't bother DS! As PP mentioned, it depends on where you're from and your tolerance.

We've gone in January and February and the kids wanted to swim every trip, and the pools were always relatively busy, including a few days/nights when the highs were in the 50s. The pools themselves are warm, you just freeze when you get out to go on a water slide or grab a towel.

Will they be able to? Yes.
Will they want to? :confused3

Pools are heated to 82 years round. So water is plenty warm enough. Now the air can be issue. :scared1:

I love this thread - for us in the Peak District north UK that would be a decent summer temperature! We will all be in the pools when we visit.
:dogdance:

It all depends how the weather is. We were there last Christmas break and went swimming multiple times. The temps were in the 80's and it felt very comfortable.

I was swimming 3 hours after the ball dropped to welcome 2015.

Being in the water isn't the problem, as the pools are heated. It's getting out of which may be a problem.

In my experience kids always wan to swim. You know your kids best though.

Temperature wise, thats usually (not always) a good time of year here.

82* pool weather? Woohoo! I think they can handle that. We're from Ohio, so right now they would have no interest in going to the pool when it's only 70* out, but if it's snowing here when we go there, I'm sure they'll have a different perspective.

I'm hoping to relax during the day before MVMCP. I wasn't sure if the pool would be an option at that time of year or not. Sounds like the pool will be our plan. Thanks!

We had beautiful pool weather in the 80's last December. However, we have been in January and February when the high temps never left the 60's. The kids still swam, but I stayed out of the water!

usually days ar hot and nights get chilly but the pool will be at perfect temperature, bathing suits don't take too much luggage room, bring them and let the kids judge the pool situation. Have a great trip

My dd went swimming when all life guards were in parksas, hats and pants.

But we are Canadian.

The water was great - the wet trip back to the room was not.

I am sure that I have seen kids swimming on all of my trips, at every time of year, even when the lifeguards are in their puffy red 'snowsuits' and gloves, whether your specific kids will want to swim, I am not sure, but the water is always quite nice, and the kids I have seen have always been enjoying themselves!

That time of year can vary widely, I've gone many times. Highs from between 48 and 85. Yes, on one trip it was a high of 48 on our arrival day.

I went once in November and the "real feel" temps were in the high 90s! We actually cancelled park plans to swim a few times:)

I agree with previous posters.. it really depends on the weather and where you are from. We visited in December once (maybe 2006 or 2007) and we have a picture of my family wrapped up in multiple jackets, gloves, and ear warmers. I vividly remember standing at the AK bus stop and it was 30 something degrees. Just this last year, we went to Universal the day before the College Football National Championship game in Tampa and we froze!! It was 32 degrees at 7:30 AM.

I'm from SC so I don't tolerate cold weather all that well.. and I personally don't like swimming unless it's at least 80 degrees outside. Kids on the other hand seem to enjoy swimming any time of the year.

Mine do! But we enjoy cooler weather. We live in Colorado and are outdoor enthusiasts. The pool at my gym at home is open year-round (yes, in the snow too!), and I use it for lap swimming in the winter. The pool itself won't be the problem. It's heated to a comfortable temperature. It's getting out that's not too fun in cooler weather!

This sounds like exactly what we did in Dec 2016! We're also from Ohio and we flew out in a snowstorm. We had great weather at Disney all week. Warm, 80s. Went to the pool before MVMCP! It was wonderful. (Too wonderful - I got dehydrated...) I especially enjoyed sending pics of us by the pool to my snow covered friends back home. :cool2:

Anyway, I also went in Dec 05 and wore sweatshirts, coats, and gloves. So pack for all scenarios, prep your kids that swimming is a "maybe", and hope for nice weather!
