Will it be too cold to swim in the pool in the beginning of December?

It is if the pool is closed. I know they have a temp at which they don't open them but I can't recall what it is. It's colder than you'd think though. I've been at Disney quite a few times when it was too cold to open the pool so as such, too cold to swim.

Now, that wasn't in early December. Late December, various days in January, even early March one year when it was so bad they had damage to the opening of Flower and Garden topiaries.

I've decided that from now on, when I head down from Dec to oh April or so, we'll bring a wrap to wear to the pool and back. Good time to make sure you book a resort with a hot tub too.

Well, that’s a given. lol.
If the pool is closed, don’t go in it.
But, yep. Sometimes the decision to swim or not to swim, is made for you.

Agree! A resort hot tub is a must for us whenever we visit central FL between November and March. We're in North Carolina so we like both air temps and water temps above 80 degrees for swimming. The OP is from Wisconsin so may be comfortable with swimming on 70 degree days though, or even cooler. The BC quiet pool is definitely warmer and a bit less breezy than the huge SAB pool.

My DH & I used to spot adults swimming in FL pools when the outdoor temps were in the 60s and say, "Oh, look, Canadians." Then we went to Alaska in late May one year and on a day when the outdoor temps hit 42 degrees and sunny, lots of young adults were wearing shorts and opening their apartment windows for fresh air, while we tourists kept our parkas on. Yes, 42 degrees! Now we notice winter swimmers in FL and say, "Oh, look, Alaskans."

If you're from Wisconsin, it is never cold enough to swim in Florida. If you are from Florida, well, that is a different story...

When we lived in Ohio, we swam at the resorts in Florida when it was in the low 60s. Since we moved to Florida, no way we would do that now.

I think it has to be 50 for the pools to open.

My kids are in stormalong bay every January. Early December should be fine. Worse comes to worse hang out in the hot tub.

For what it's worth, we swim in our community pools all year round. Ours are heated to 88 where I believe Disney keeps theirs at 83? Anyway, between mid November and the end of February it can be anywhere from cold, like a little below 32 for a short period, (that's usually some time in January and it only a period that lasts a week or two) to mid maybe even upper 80s. You should be fine the first week of December.
We tell all our visiting family and friends to pack their bathing suits. I know this was specifically about swimming, but as a general rule, pack clothes to layer with during those times

Depends where you're from. If flying down from somewhere up north, never too cold in FL...

We were Saratoga Springs in December 2020…the paddock pool temp was 94 ! Daytime temps were in the 70’s.

Then January 2018 we were at the beach club DVC pool which was open. Temp outside was in the upper 40’s and the hot tub felt wonderful! The cast member cleaning up was in his winter jacket and thought we were nuts along with the other family swimming that was from Canada! But we are from MN so upper 40’s in January is fine by us….

We were at Disneyworld last December(21) and it was HOT!! We enjoyed the pool several days.

Same. We were there the first 3 days in December and it was toasty in the middle of the day. People were swimming.

We have booked 2 nights stay at Beach Club after our holiday cruise. Is it too cold to take advantage of the fantastic pool? We are from Wisconsin. Thank you!

We are from Wisconsin too. You will be FINE. If it does get too cold (under 55-degrees I think) they will close the pools down. Otherwise, they are all heated and the lifeguards wear parkas. The worst part is going to/from the pool and the hike out of the pool and across the sidewalk to the pool slide will be chilly.

If you're from WI (I am originally as well), I definitely think you can swim during that time. We've got a trip planned around the same time and will always swim, even if it feels too cold in the air because the pools are heated. Coldest I've been while swimming was at DLH in January this year. It was high 50's to low 60's but the kids just loved it! Getting out of the pool and back to your room are the hard parts
