Will I need to walk for week between Xmas and NYrs?

I own at VWL and BLT. Thinking ahead to end of 2015... Looking to book two 2 bedrooms at VWL for the week after Xmas including New Years. Will I need to walk? We have enough points. Was surprised that I should have walked for Thanksgiving at BLT ( two 2 bedroom standards) this year. Ultimately, got the days I needed but not right away, even at 8 am 11 months.

It wouldn't hurt, especially since VWL is smaller and you want two rooms...not sure when I would start walking right at 11 months, maybe December 19th? we are there this year until the 17th, which I booked at 11 months. When hubby decided that we should stay two extra nights at 9 months out, we couldn't add the days so are doing a split stay with AKV...I actually dropped a night so we are 6-3 nights. We bought just for our Christmas stays as it's so beautiful there!

The standard rooms at BLT are harder to get than the rooms at VWL- they are generally taken right at 8am on the 11 month for busy times of the year and with people walking since they are hard to get it makes it even harder.

If I can tack on a similar question-- we will have 200 AKV points available for a Christmas week reservation for 2015, plus a bunch of SSR points that we can use at the 7-month mark. Unfortunately, the 200 points isn't quite enough for a full week in a one-bedroom savanna view (we could do 6 nights) or one-bedroom concierge at AKV (we could do 5 nights). I'm confident the extra savanna view night would be available at 7 months, as long as I make the night I don't book at 11 months the 20th, not the 27th. But, am I right in thinking that two nights in concierge, even if it is the 20th and 21st, not during the crazy week between Christmas and New Year's, would probably not be available at 7 months?

Two nights of AKV concierge likely won't even be avaialble at 11 months out, much less 7. A constant issue with concierge is rooms disappearing before 11 months out by persons making multiple day reservations starting just before one's arrival date. For example, yesterday was July 28. If you had gone on line at 8 a.m. eastern on July 28 to book June 28 and after for 2015, you would have found that concierge studios and 2BRs were already full for June 28 through 30, 2015.
