Will I love Disney's Beach Club Resort?

I've heard only a few reviews and some were bad!

I have always wanted to stay there because of;
* pool
* close to Epcot
* walks around the Boardwalk

But I've heard bad things like;
* bad odors
* vomit in the hall
* poor counter service
* snobby

So....will I love it?

Blessings, Sandra

don't know everyone is different.

the counter service is in the marketplace - so I actually liked it better than other places.

love Cape May Cafe and beaches and cream

We loved our stay at the Beach club last Feb-
It was clean and comfortable- and loved being able to walk to Epcot & MGM!

Stayed in October and loved it. The convenient walk to Epcot makes it worth while. The fact that the hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious just adds to it. We had a great room with a small balcony that overlooked the boardwalk. Great place to sit at night and have a rum and coke after a long day in the park.

In a word, YEP!!!:goodvibes

The only time I wouldn't be thrilled about staying at YCor BC would be winter because the SAB is a big part of the appeal to our family and makes it worth the price.

OMG :scared1:
i've never experienced vomit or odors (nor the other 2) while staying or visiting there. really the only thing that bothers us is the noise level (at the pool, in the lobby & halls).
& the BC has Art the doorman, a living icon at WDW :)
be assured: you will love it :thumbsup2

We just back and did a split stay between BC and BCV. It was great, as always. No smells, CM's were very friendly and helpful.

Yes. counter service is nothing to write rave reviews about.

Vomit in the hall?? Wow - that is a new one. I am sure if that ever occurred (as it could at ANY resort anywhere) it was cleaned up quickly.

There really are no counter service restaurants at BC - but if you consider the Marketplace a counter service eatery, there have never been more than 2 people in line before another register is opened. This is not really a counter service restaurant, so don't be confused.

"Odors & Snobby" are naive opinions and we have only had pleasant experiences at The Beach Club Resort and have made it our Disney "Home."

OMG:eek:

Beach Club is our home resort and we have never experienced anything like what you mentioned. Everyone is very nice especially the CM's Raouf who runs childrens activities and of course Art the Greeter. We have stayed at the BC many times and every time it just gets better. Just this past December we were upgraded to concierge. Awesome experience!:goodvibes

We were at the BC in 2005. We booked the trip based on the Samantha Brown Travel Channel show. I would not go back again.

Mousekeeping:
1) Mold in shower
2) Garbage never emptied
3) Hair in tub
4) Holes in bathroom wall

Room was okay but my hubby and I felt crowded there. I know it sounds crazy but we had the 2 kids with us at POR and we had so much more room and accomodations. Silly example, we ordered a champagne breakfast for our anniversary delivered to our room. Room service delivered it however, there was only ONE chair with the table, so one had to sit on the bed and one in the chair. We asked for another chair and was told sorry but they could not provide one.:confused3. POR has 2 chairs with the table in their rooms.

Stormalong Bay closes extremely early so unless you want to leave the parks in the middle of the day it is not an option for you.

All was reported to front desk, spoke to manager and wrote a letter to Disney about all.

We still had a great time on the trip but I won't go back there.

Cathy

Those things you listed (bad odors and vomit in the hall....) are things that could happen anywhere. People get sick on vacation, kids vomit wherever they happen to be...hopefully proper hotel workers are notified and the problems are taken care of efficiently. Marketplace has counterservice, but it's not like a typical counterservice restaurant. It's just to get a quick sandwich or things like that. Snobby? Hmmm, don't know about that one. I've always found people to be friendly enough.

Will you love it? Honestly, I can't imagine anyone not loving it, but I realize different people have different tastes. If you think you'll enjoy walking to Epcot for dinners each night, watching Illuminations, then walking back to BC, then that is one good indication you'll love staying at BC. If you think you'll enjoy walking or boating to MGM/HS, walking and enjoying the boardwalk area, renting surrey bikes and riding around the lake, many great restaurants all within walking distance, movies on the beach, Beaches & Cream for ice cream treats.....then I really do think you'll enjoy staying at BC!

In reading some of the above replies, I want to note that I agree with the person who said you may not enjoy BC if you stay during the cold months. The pool is a main attraction at BC, as you know, so you'd want to utilize it when staying at BC.

Thank you all! My main draw is the pool & walk to Epcot! Blessings, Sandra

Love the BC (and the BCV) and have never had a problem there. The one time the BCV room wasn't ready at check in (after 4) we were given passes for dinner.

As for vomit in the hallway, that is a biohazard and by health department regulation would be cleaned up immediately.

Noise? Not at this resort, other than outside at the pool.

Snobby? Not at this resort. YC, sometimes, but not the BC.

Love, love, loved it! We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa on the ground floor, and I was disappointed with that. We could not open up to the outside, or sit on the patio outside the room because of a really strong moldy smell (OUTSIDE...not at all inside) We tried to get moved to another floor, but no luck. Other than that, we LOVED it! The walk to EPCOT alone was worth it.

I love Beach Club and will be staying there again this spring. I'm picky about hotels and my 2 favorite at Beach Club and Polynesian.

BCV is our home resort and we love love love it. Just went back in december and it was just as good. We've always had good service at the front desk, store, and conceirge.

Personally we like the marketplace cafe. The yogurt parfaits for breakfast are a great thing and it cuts as a snack. They will mix chocolate chips, strawberries, blueberries, granola in it for you. Yummy! Plus the day we checked in I was starving and got a great grilled chicken salad. It was a mixed salad so I told them what I wanted on it. Also dh had a sandwich there one afternoon and he said it was really good. The only draw back is there isn't as much choice as most of the counter services at other resorts.

Oh you will love it! I can't think of anything to complain about from our trip. It is so funny you mentioned vomit it the hallway...my 3 year old vomited in the hallway on the 5th floor, lol. Housekeeping took care of it, tho, it wasn't anything major. Our room was clean, well-kept, and had no smell whatsoever. We were there in Oct and wanted to stay there again in April, but it wasn't available. I love the access to Epcot so we chose BWV instead. The staff was very friendly and helpful...we loved our mousekeepers and actually spent quite a bit of time chatting with them. And the girls at the desk at Cape May Cafe were just so funny and friendly. Loved everything about it and I can't wait to stay there again!

If you're breathing, you'll love it!!! It is awesome!!! There is nothing I could say that was bad about the BC!
