Will I lose my great rate for rental car?

A couple of weeks ago I searched for a good car rental rate for June. I was able to find a really good rate but now with southwest air just putting out their new dates we booked flights which add over an hour prior to the way down and over two hours to our departure date. I would hate to change the hours on the reservation and lose the great rate as the price for the same company and same dates has gone up considerably. What have others done in a similar situation?

I think I understand that you're going to pick-up the car an hour later then originally planned, this shouldn't be too big of an issue, it's the return that could hurt you, but we'd need to know more information about your actual dates and times to really see.

I don't know what agency you booked through, but have you tried to modify your existing reservation and see if it changes dramatically? In either case, I don't know if I would try to just "wing" it, you could get hit with a couple of hours of "extra time", which would be a lot higher proportionately to your calculated daily rate.

Not always the best idea to book through Priceline as they cannot be changed or cancelled when doing a blind booking (regular booking is pretty much pointless because you can usually get the same rate or better direct).

When I needed to make a small change like that, I phoned the 1-800 number and talked to them and asked them to make sure it is the same price. It has worked for me the few times I had to do that.

I have lso called the res. phone # and found that they are ok with small changes and will not change your rate.

Thanks everyone. I'll try calling the car rental company directly and ask them. I don't dare change things online as I'm afraid of losing the rate.

We just got back last week from Orlando. Our flights changed by 1.5 hours and I just called Dollar and asked them to change my arrival time. I was able to keep the same reservation and great rate. (199.00 plus taxes for a mini van).
