Will I lose my blue card benefits if I sell my contract and buy a resale

Hello everyone I own aluani but I want to re sale and buy Saratoga from resell market. But I also don’t wanna lose my benefits, like moonlight, as I’ve gone to a few. Also what do you guys recommend buying? Animal kingdom? Saratoga? Old key west? Thanks

You'll have to keep one direct or pre- 4/4/2016 resale contract to keep the member extras (perks and benefits).

I'll let others opine on resort since I'm a "BCV or bust" kind of person.

Depending on how many contracts you own you need to keep at least one which qualify for the benefits. A qualifying contract could either be a resale from prior to 4/4-2016 or a direct contract with either 25/75 or 100 points <-- The exact number all depends on WHEN you bought the contract.

If you only own contract you need to keep it if you want to keep the benefits.

About resorts most will say "Buy where you don mind staying" IMO that all depends on what time of year you normally go. Any time between late September - mid January you will need to stay at your home resort. Outside that time you have a much higher chance of booking another resort at the 7 month window. However with DVC building more and more resorts it could in the future become increasingly difficult to swap at 7 months.

As other have mentioned, it is the points that qualify you to be a blue card member.

I just sold a contract that was bought pre 2016 that was in a membership with a resale contract bought after that date.

That membership no longer has blue card status.

In terms of resort, all depends what you are looking for. I own at SSR as one my resorts. I bought It though to use at 7 months elsewhere during less busy times I like the resort itself. I am not a fan of buses to the park so I see that as a big drawback. However, when I stay there and do go to the park, I just pay to take a Lyft.

I love the laid back atmosphere and ease to Disney Springs. The other two are my least favorite. I have never stayed at OKW and whi,le AK is a gorgeous resort, it’s just not my cup of tea.

Personally, I'd buy Copper Ridge, 100 points from DVC to keep my status, if that was important to me. No way would I want RIV with the MF, and I like Wilderness Lodge better anyway- probably my favorite current resort. BLT is my favorite to own points in though, d/t location, low MF, and high payback when renting out.
