Will I like the Fantasy after only trying the wish?

I never cruised before until recently. I recently went on the Disney Wish for 3 nights. ( I got sea sick the first night cause I never cruised before. Nausea but never threw up thankfully but it was bad. Apple slices, and gatorades saved the day. The other 2 nights were better but it was difficult getting adjusted to the boat moving around while trying to sleep )

I am going to attempt to maybe give it another go this time to see if I really enjoy cruising lol

The wish, I know is basically brand new, and I really loved how the ship looked. The rooms were beautiful. The layout of the ship seemed a little weird though but what do I know

Looking at maybe doing a 4 night cruise now on the fantasy to see to castaway cay and lighthouse point.

The fantasy doesn't feel " old " correct? Food still good, rooms still good? Good bars? I noticed the rooms have little TV's compared to the wish but I don't watch much anyway.

Thanks

EDIT: Dream is cheaper by almost 800 dollars so now looking at that one. Same itinerary, just different port. How are the seas in early april/late March

The Fantasy is an amazing ship and I am sure you will love it if you enjoyed the Wish! I believe the layout of the Fantasy is preferred by many.

Enjoy your cruise!

The Wish is beautiful. Disney does an amazing job of keeping their ships clean. On the older ships the theming is much more subtle. I prefer the more subtle theming but that is just my personal taste. I am one of those who prefer the layout of the older ships. Especially being able to walk the promenade deck and the adult areas.

Well now I am looking at the dream since it's 743 dollars cheaper lol ( I put a hold on the cheaper one ) 1st week in April ( hopefully good weather. Fantasy is for last week of March )

I think all the ships are great for differnet reasons. I think you'll have a great time no matter which you're on! And I'm all for saving the money...save it towards future cruises!

Yes! I love the Fantasy and Dream. I really didn't care for the Wish layout. In the future I'd sail the Wish with a discount (we are military) but would choose other ships when possible. Obviously just my personal opinion. I did love the food on the pool deck more on the Wish. It sure would be nice if they added the Mexican and bbq to the others!

Dream/Fantasy are sister ships in the same class so their layout is the same. I did Fantasy last Nov. Going on the Wish this November.

The layout is pretty simple. Adult only are on front of ship top decks. Nightclub area grouped together in the back area of deck.

Cabanas buffet instead of Marceline Market. Pool area has QS dining with pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets, soft serve.

Has mini golf, basketball court outside, has Aqua Duck water coaster- no screens unlike Aqua Mouse on Wish

Still has broadway shows, movie theater. No live dinner show like Arendelle on the Wish.

As for the seas, I sailed B2Bs, April 12th-19th on the Dream this year. I think I felt the ship rock once. But that doesn't mean you will have the same, any given time, even the exact same dates, but after many cruises I rarely even feel like I am on a ship. I wish it rocked more.

Personally I think the Fantasy/Dream are way better than the Wish, so my opinion is you will love either one. But, not everyone has the same likes and dislikes so I can't say that for sure.

That is good to know. I was popping Dramamine like they were candy the whole trip cause the first day was bad for me. Ship was rocking pretty hard core. The issue I had was I couldn't drink or enjoy the bars cause I was on the damn pills lol I don't want to take those this time so I am hoping for a better experience. ( Although I did have a few sips of wine at Palo cause that place was AMAZING. )

I mainly sail Disney. We started in 2007, and, yes, I think the first four “look old.” And have since Day 1. There is a lot of cream color and medium brown wood. Built that way to resemble classic ocean liners.

But old does not mean poorly maintained. The closer you are to a scheduled Drydock (when the ship gets a big refresh), you might notice carpet looking a little tired. During a cruise, expect to see ongoing painting and maintenance.

I have been told and read that the Strait of Florida between the US and the Bahamas is routinely rough water. Sailing the 3- and 4-night cruises to the Bahamas might be a challenge for some cruisers. It was for me for several cruises. Over time, I finally sail without taking precautionary measures. I found the Scopalomine patch (prescription required) to work best for me. It did make me dry mouthed, but not knocked out like other anti-emetics. I still might feel the motion, but Bonine can settle it.

My family says the layout of the Wish is awkward. I find the Dream & Fantasy to be so. But I’m only on vacation and can find my way without a lot of effort.

I don’t know why people differentiate Dream from Fantasy; I think you can pick either for a first try at that class of ships.

Easter is late in 2025 (April 20), which may see Spring Break crowds later than early/ mid March (prices are a good indicator. Lower prices often mean slower booking or lower crowds).

Seas are typically nice in March and April. And makes for a nice day at the beach - water warming since winter and warm (sometimes hot air).

If you enjoyed your cruise on the Wish, there’s a good chance you could enjoy a cruise in any Disney ship.

…just need to find what works for you in regards to nausea - and ability to enjoy a drink.

Bon Voyage!

The Fantasy is our home ship, and we can’t wait to return. We have been fortunate to have sailed on all the ships except for the Treasure and Adventure…but they are on the list. All have their own personality.

For your motion sickness, we recommend Bonine. It is a small chewable tablet, raspberry flavored, that we take every morning starting the day before we sail. Happy to say we have never had an issue, despite my wife and daughter being very prone to motion sickness.

I recommend using meclizine 25 mg and you can buy brand name such as Bonine or generic version, I use Walgreens brand because Bonine is usually out of stock. I have horrible motion sickness, like can’t ride some of rides at WDW and get sick in the car, but I live cruising.

I start taking it 2 days before I travel and continue taking it for 2 days after I get back to help get my land legs back. I take it at night before I go to bed and have no issues enjoying cocktails on the cruise. I did talk in length about my plan with my doctor and pharmacist and was given the ok so I highly recommend the same for you.

Thanks for all the reply's. Quick question if anyone has ever used Dreams Unlimited. If I have a cruise booked, can they take it over and I still get the on board credit? Or do I need to cancel and then re-book?

Thanks

Quick note on Bonine. I used to be able to buy it at CVS but now the only place I can find it is amazon. It is my go to motion sickness prevention for all forms of travel (airplanes, trains, long car rides, boats/cruise ships).

We've done this, but they can only take over a booked cruise if it has been within the last 30 days.
