Target has a special right now where you get a $40 gift card when buying certain iPads. I think I will still get the gift card, even if I use my Target debit card, along with a 5% pharmacy reward. Is that correct?
Yes, last time they offered a deal with the giftcard on the iPad I was able to use 5% from my debit plus the phamacy 5%. It was the best deal I could find on a iPad.

If you use your Target debit card but want to use some Target gift cards for part of the payment, will they still give you the 5% discount? If so, is it on the whole purchase price or just the part that goes on the debit card?
Sorry to disagree wirth the cashier but on Black Friday I did the 5% off pharmacy card, 5% off with target CC and got the Ipad 2 and the 40$ GC for EACH of the 3 Ipads I got for my girls for X-mas. HTHs

I think she answered what I asked. I have 2 Target gift cards for $10 and I was wondering, if I used them towards the purchase of 1 ipad and used my Target debit card for the remainder, if I would get the 5% off on the whole amount or only the portion I paid for with the debit card. Sounds like just the debit card portion would be discounted.
ETA: descovy, I referred to you as "she" but it later occurred to me that you might be a "he." If so, I apologize!

Yes, you can stack 5% pharmacy rewards and 5% red card discount.
However, I was replying to the question about making only a partial payment with the redcard ... Do you get the full 5% discount?
My (correct) answer is no. You only get the full 5% by paying the whole balance with your redcard. For example if you buy a $400 iPad but want to USE a $100 gift card to help pay for it, your redcard discount is only $15 ($300 put on redcard) vs $20 (not using a gift card and paying all $400 with your Target card)
I've cashiered for 5 years and actively coupon, use my redcard, and buy "entertainment" cards and stack discounts pretty frequently. I have a pretty good handle of what works and what doesn't.
I bought the iPad yesterday for $499 minus the 5% pharmacy rewards and then got another 5% for using my Target debit. The discounts were also applied to the 2 year protection plan I bought too.
Descovy do you or anyone happen to know if I can use a pharmacy rewards card in NJ? I know I can't get them in NJ for whatever reason but if I were to get one from a family member would I need to go out of state to use, or could I use in NJ?
Some states Including NY where I live pharmacy rewards are not allowed by the state. The only discount that I can use at the pharmacy is my TM discount. Even the 5% redcard discount is not allowed.
