Will I be happy at the Cheyenne?

I'm so sorry to have so many questions i'm just so confused and am booking our trip on the 30th (yay payday and also the last day of 40% off!) so am desperately trying to make a decision on where to stay!

We've made DLH and HNY a no-no unfortunately :( I can't justify the price!

I've stayed at Newport Bay, HNY and Sequoia now and liked Sequoia the most, but I feel like we should try somewhere new this time :) That is why I'm thinking of Cheyenne! It's also a complete bargain :goodvibes

But i'm just worried about a few things:

Will it be too far to walk to the parks, going in a cold month (Feb) and we like to walk, is it that much further than Sequoia? I've never been to Cheyenne and Santa fe before, not even the bars so I have no idea how far away it is. It is along that river that's by the side of the Sequoia?

I'm not a snob but when i'm on holiday I like to feel like i'm in a nice hotel! I don't really care if its cheap or not, as long as it has a nice atmopshere and doesn't feel cheap (e.g Travelodge style! ok for one night but not fun for a holiday!)

Anyone have any pics of the rooms i'd be very grateful, are they nice and warm in winter? Is the hotel big so you have to walk quite far to breakfast? At breakfast do you get the same items as at Sequoia?

omg, sorry for such a rant, please help me make my final decision!

important Q! At breakfast are there little bowls of chopped tomatoes and olives? call me weirdo but I loved this at Sequoia as I could make little cheese and tomato rolls and well.. i just love olives, has anyone witnessed these at the Cheyenne?! :)

Thanks :) xxx

There are pictures of the rooms on the hotel sticky at the top of the page.

The breakfast isnt quite as good as the SL - you have to find your own table rather than be shown to a table and there are no individual yoghurts (its in a large bowl where you have ladle to help yourself) and the fruit is tinned rather than fresh. Apart from that its very similar.

The rooms are in blocks rather than in a main complex which means you have to go outside to the restaurant/bar/shop/reception. They are all in a seperate block. Also all the rooms have a double and one set of bunks rather than 2 doubles.

Its only a few minutes further to walk - turn left once you pass the New York rather than round the lake to SL

I can help on the walk front, as I went a wee wander to Cheyenne and Santa Fe on our recent trip. From standing outside the HNY I timed it and it took under 5 minutes until I was at the first Cheyenne building, and 10 minutes to the reception building, but this was pausing to take a couple of photos so would probably take 7 or 8 minutes. Bearing in mind from the parks thats about another 10 mins but it was nowhere near as far as I expected, I felt like I just rounded a corner and there it was! This was me as an adult by myself so if you have kids it might be a little longer, but its not as far as you probably think.

Lots of photos of the Cheyenne here.

We adore the Cheyenne, it's got the best atmosphere of any hotel and the most unique theming. The walk is not much more than from the Sequoia but I've never seen olives and tomatoes at breakfast- plenty of cheese, ham and Italian meat though! Breakfast times are pretty much the same in all hotels - you just choose when you check in.

The bar is great, with a relaxed and fun environment.

Also, because it's based on a Western town, none of the buildings have more than 2 floors so you'll never have many flights of stairs to climb, if at all.

Just returned from a 1 night stay at the Cheyenne. :yay:Stayed at SF, SL, NPB and HNY before. We really enjoyed the theming and thought it was cosy and fun. The walk was lovely and not much further than SL, we enjoyed the walk by the river. Our room was small, but cosy and very warm with an easy to use heater.
Breakfast was quite basic, but enjoyable. We got there very early 7 am and it was quiet, but by 7.30 was very busy.
We would like to go back and stay a bit longer next time!:santa:
