Will "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" return to Epcot?

So far no one knows, there have been no official announcements. The current thinking (that I hope is true) is that Captain Eo will stay for a while until they put a new show in the space.

i love them both but i think disney needs to put somthing new in there. they are both very outdated!

With 3D movies saturating the market, the novelty of a 15 minute attraction in a theme park is wearing thin. I would rather Disney raze the pavilion to the ground and do something entirely new. If they can't restore Figment to his former glory, that is.

I agree. I'm not a huge fan of the Captain Eo and would like to see something new in the space. Honey I shrunk was nice, but it's been there for forever and I've seen it so many times I've stopped going in recent years. I was talking with some of my students yesterday (12-13 yr olds) and they had never even heard of the Honey I Shrunk movies.

There's nothing that really needs to be known about the "Honey, I..." feature films to understand the "inept inventor" concept and his out-of-control machines.

The presentation can stand on its own, just the way the It's Tough to be a Bug attraction doesn't "require" any pre-knowledge of the A Bug's Life feature.

But, pre-knowledge of the films can certainly enhance the enjoyment of the attractions.

Do not know what is going in afterwards but I do know that Captain EO is there for atleast a year.

We were there last month and watched Captain EO a couple of times (my 3 & 5 year old LOVED it). I have to say that compared to Honey I Shrunk the Audience, the groups we were in the theater with really hooted, hollered, and clapped more for EO. It took me back to the 80's watching it - totally nostalgic! I agree, they do need to revamp it when they do close Captain EO ... neither shows can hold a candle to Philharmagic and the awesome 3-D effects.

I'm surprised nobody has made this suggestion yet....

why not complete the Nostalgia trip with putting Magic Journey's back after Captain EO?!

:lmao:

That's it in a nutshell! The original Journey Into Imagination with Figment and Dreamfinder should be brought back. What replaced it was a good example of imagineers on crack (like the birthday cake castle). They tried to fix that with the current version, but it just never got healed.

As for the 3D movies, there are a lot of options if they can just keep the imagineers off the crack.

They could do some really cool stuff based on the original theme of JII. I agree that with 3D coming to living rooms, it's time to move beyond that. If in-home 3D takes off, having it in the parks will be like marveling at a microwave oven in COP.:earsboy:

OMG I hated Captain EO!!!! I just about died of laughter walking out from there because it was so awful I found it amusing....Maybe I just dont get it but it was horrendous as a 25 year old woman.

That being said Honey I shrunk the audience was not good either. I love the
"4D" shows and I think they should make another one that encompasses Disney in some way!

While I understand it costs millions of dollars to create/revamp a pavillion, you'd think after this long and this lackluster a reception to the..what are we at 2 or 3?...changes to that darn ride they'd just get it that they should change it back.

I understand Captain Eo is going to have a very small audience following but I LOVE it.

I remember seeing it in 1986 when I was 13 years old. I was in love with Michael Jackson and seeing that cool of a 3D film back then with him in it was heaven on Earth for me (yes, I know that is very dramatic........)

I think Disney brought it back for nostalgia. So many things about Disney trigger this kind of nostalgia.. The Jungle Cruise comes to mind. We went on the Jungle Cruise last week and every single time we saw an "animal" the 10 year old in the seat across from us would as his mom "Is THAT animal real?" She would reply "NO, this is not like the safari ride"

To a 10 year old the Jungle Cruise seems silly if you have been on an Kilmanjaro Safari but to someone who remembers that ride as a kid can truly understand what makes it special.

So last week after seeing Captain Eo my kids said it was cool (because they love MJ) but my DH was like "huh?"

And then I went and bought myself a t-shirt and a keychain :lovestruc

I didn't like "Honey I shrunk the Audience", but DH and I also didn't like Captain EO. We saw it once and we'll never see it again (just like Honey I Shrunk the Audience).

HISTA can't return soon enough. As bad as it was, it's much better than *cough* *hack* *cough* Captain *cough* *just threw up in my mouth a little* EO. :scared1:

I've never seen Captain EO ~ my first visit to Epcot was in 94, right after that show was replaced.

I'd love to see it :)

It was good for a time but it was seriously out-dated which i think is a major problem for EPCOT in general. the interesting thing now is what will replace it, and i don't have a clue what they could put in there (or on top of). something to do with the film 'UP' could be cool.
