The podcast team touched on this, but I'm wondering if people think that the new Four Seasons hotel on WDW property will raise the bar for the Disney Deluxe hotels? I love the theming of the Disney hotels, but I agree with the podcast team's statements that in general, a Disney Deluxe hotels are not on par with non-Disney five star hotels. I think there are some little touches that Disney Deluxe hotels could add to reach that level. What do you all think?

Earlier this year, I spent a week at the Four Seasons in Maui, and then less than a month later, spent a week at the Poly. I love going to Disneyworld, but the hotels and the hotel rooms were not really comparable, and I think it would take more than a few upgrades at Disney's deluxe properties to bring them in line with a Four Seasons or similar property. I do think that the competition will be good for the deluxes and will hopefully prompt them to up their game a bit, but they really aren't in the same league with non-Disney 5-star properties, and barring a major change of focus, they won't be. Not complaining, and the lack of "luxury" at the Poly didn't impact my ability to have a great time, just trying to be objective as someone that has done both basically back to back.

My opinion, FWIW.
