Will Disney remove resort parking fees to encourage lower bus transportation numbers.

I would imagine the number of people that would decide to rent a car or keep a rental car solely because the parking cost is dropped would be minimal. At least minimal enough where it wouldn't promote the proper social distancing on buses, if that's still a requirement when WDW opens. In my own experience, I haven't noticed much difference in the crowds on buses since parking fees were even implemented.
That was true before. But now in today’s climate, with virus and distancing I think more people will be thinking about renting cars rather than WDW transport.
My daughter doesn’t drive and always used bus to go to work but after virus appeared I drove her so she wouldn’t have to bus. But now she’s layed off like many.

Even if I drive I don't drive to the parks, I park and don't touch my car until we leave, so removing parking fees would do nothing to encourage me not to ride the bus/other transportation.
We always drive and after the first few trips, we never drive to the parks anymore and always use WDW transportation. We will drive to another resort for dinner etc. or off-site.

I think the amount of people on the fence about whether to drive due to the virus will be dependent on what changes (if any) Disney makes to the bus system when they re-open. If a person is choosing to go to a theme park where they will spend the day amidst germs and thousands of strangers, I'm not sure if they'd care enough to incur the additional cost of driving when they'd otherwise use Disney transportation. If anything, the bus is inclined to be the cleanest part of their whole day, assuming Disney takes additional/frequent sanitization measures on their transportation.

But to your point, if it works out that way, I think it further supports another reason why Disney would be less inclined to remove resort parking fees. If people are opting to drive knowing they'd be paying the parking fees, that's all the more money in Disney's pocket. They're going to need it after this extended closure.

Yes they will need the income. I’m too far away to drive. And envy people that are just a days drive away! And I hate driving around WDW property. I usually start my trip flying into FLL to visit family and have some beach time then drive up to WDW and after check in return rental to the Disney CCC. Even that little driving around WDW is enough for me lol!
But for the first time our new reality had me thinking of renting a car for WDW. However the double cost of rental plus resort fee will add up.
Good point of being in the parks all day among thousands.
