Will Disney really do this?

My cousin just returned from thier trip and was told that Disney was considering adding in the tip to everyone who was on the DDP for next year.
Not just to a table of six or more, or the TIW but to every table that used the DDP. It really does'nt matter to us, as we do tip the 18% but I wonder if anyone else has heard this.

Until this past year 2008 the DDP included the tip for 18%. If they are thinking of brining it back that will be nice. It also included an appetizer at TS for Dinners. The took the tip and appetizer away and went up on the price. We are still doing the plan as it saves a lot of headaches and everything is prepaid and we still save money.

I believe the OP was saying that the tip of 18% will be automatically added to the bill of those who have the DDP as is with parties of 6 or more and those with the TIW discounts.

I don't believe the OP meant that they were once again including the tip in the DDP.

I can imagine Disney adding this automatic tip with everything...whether your using a TIW discount, or on the DDP meal plan. I think this was the plan all along...remove the tip from DDP and then make it an automatic tip that the guest has to pay extra. Another reason why we are no longer getting the DDP.

Ya, that is what I meant. We may not get the ddp on our next trip, we may just do a couple of character meals for my youngest daughter, but we will still tip so it does'nt change much for us, but some who won't tip may not get the ddp any longer, or they may just opp out for the CS version.

I wonder if they are having a lot of problems with people thinking the tip is included in the dining plan and then not leaving a tip?

Maggie

I would guess that if they have an automatic tip for everyone who is on the dining plan, they will also add one for all parties, whether they're on the dining plan or not.

Have not heard anything about this happening though.

I agree that it's another reason not to do the DDP. I tip based on service. WDW forcing 18% is just a way to get us to supplement the server's income instead of rewarding them for a job well done. I dropped the DDE when they started adding a mandatory 18% tip. The QSDP looks better and better.

We are a family of six including our 1 year old. I find it annoying that it is already mandatory for us.

Closing this thread now, as tipping should be discussed on the Tipping Info Thread.
