Will Disney cancel the Halloween Parties (for Irma) and keep the money?!!

There's a Party scheduled for Sunday the 10th and Tuesday the 12th. Supposedly those tickets cannot be changed of refunded. Really? Even if there's a Hurricane?!!

Not to mention no one would go to these parties if a hurricane passed through and they would cancel parties and refuse to offer a refund/change party ticket.

I was actually able to cancel a party ticket last year & get a refund, even though it was my fault for having to cancel & the tickets were technically nonrefundable. The CM was being nice. It was months in advance of the party, though.

Disney is not going to cancel & pocket the money. Will never happen. If they keep the party on schedule but you don't feel safe going, call to cancel & politely ask for at least a Disney gift card. Under these circumstances (Hurricane Irma), I'm sure they'll either give you that or an out & out refund.

Though as you point out: it's a bridge too far.

A reschedule is almost useless though...as their preplanned, ride rationing system doesn't allow it - more or less.

Refunds work.

At this point they are sure the storm center will be no more than 50 mikes off the east or west coast or somewhere in between...at this point at least Sunday is canned.

I had tickets for the Friday, October 7 party laat year. Hurricane Matthew came through and the parks closed and there was even a curfew for resort guests. I called and was refunded for the ticket. They also set up spots in the resorts for you to exchange the ticket for another party date and even for the Christmas party. Disney was totally accommodating.

If THEY cancel the party - they will refund the money. The reason they say "no refunds or cancellations" is that they don't want you to come up to the gate the day before and say "I want my money back". Or if the weather is bad and the party still goes on, though generally even then they will let you pick a different date. If they cancel the party, you can be sure you will be refunded the money.

They do a lot of things for money, we all know that. They offer lousy desserts and mediocre viewing areas for money, tired exclusive, little value, expensive tent cabanas, paid EMH, express park to park transportation but even Ogre himself wouldn't cancel an event and keep the guests money.

Just the publicity nightmare that would ensue is enough for then not to do it.

The important thing, as far as this thread is concerned, is that Disney has done what most of us expected, offered the guest a full range of options including a full refund of monies paid as compensation for cancelling the event. TDO is hoping that most of the guests will choose options 1,2 or 3 as this keeps the money in the company and gives them a chance to make more on guest spending. Option 4 is the least tasteful to TDO but is one they had to offer.

I never said that at the current prices that these tickets were a great value.

That's a discussion for another thread and I agree with you. Cost to value is pretty poor. The party was worth it to me at a CM discounted price of $35 back when I was a CM, We have great memories at the parties and have the pictures that were "free" to the party guests back then which includes the ones with our late daughter. It's not worth $100 for a 1 day park hopper and not worth $70 for the party, especially with all the cuts to the current parties vs the original parties.

I don't understand your comment. My tickets for Sunday's already cancelled MNSSHP were $69. Picking a different party date might cost more, and those one day hoppers they are offering definitely cost way more than the $69 I paid. BTW, I'm going to take the refund.

The point is the value of the one day park hopper. If the cost/value to the company wasn't the same as the event tickets, they wouldn't have offered them in exchange.

However, to me, the party's value at $70 a ticket is far worse than they used to be with more candy stations, larger candy bars, more character meet and greets, more shows and the included photo of your party at the photo station for half the cost. The current party is a watered down version of what they were and should be.

Part of my schtick...

The daily ticket is $105-125...

In October the Halloween ticket goes up to $90

3 years ago it was $71

8 years ago it was $55

12 years ago is was about $40


The point is that the prices are completely arbitrary...and we have to say "no" or there will be no limits.
