Ok, my DD2 will be a month away from her 3rd birthday when we visit. She is still young enough to not need a ticket and does not qualify for the dining plan (wish the airline saw it that way;) ) But she is tall for her age. Not a particularly big kid....just on the taller side. People always assume she is 3. I also made a reservation for her at BBB. The CM who made my reservations said that it was no problem since she was so close to being 3 as long as I thought she would sit still for it. Will I run into problems at Disney with this? Will they give us problems bringing her into the park with no ticket? We are also going to MNSSHP and the 3 of us of course have our tickets but again, she does not. Should I bring a copy of her birth certificate? Is this a stupid question?

we never had a problem. We did it 2 times with 2 kids the week befor the third birthday.. A friend of mine has kids the same age as mine and they are so big, extreamly tall about 3-4 inches taller than mine ( my kids are average hight to) and they did not have a prob either.

I'll probably get flamed for this but we've taken 3 yo's w/ no question. It's harder at that age cause they're likely to say "no, I'm 3" when you tell the CM that they're 2... I would not bother w/ a birth certificate, but on the otherhand if it makes you feel better why not.. It's just a piece of paper it won't take up any room. I wouldn't think it'd need to be a certified copy.

my son isn't particularly big for his age but I bring one anyway. I once saw an airline giving parents of an older-looking 1yo such a terrible time--they actually had to have a bc faxed! before they would allow the kid on the plane w/o buying a ticket!, I just figure it's good to have.

Any time where there is a possiblility of being questioned we will take a copy of DDs birth certificate, the funny thing is we've never had to use it. My daughter is just 5 and as tall as an "average" 7 year old.

I'm 5'11 and was always taller than everyone else at school. Growing up either myself or my mum was questioned almost all the time - in the end my mum kept a copy of my birth certificate in her purse ready to go at all times.

Not a dumb question at all. And I doubt you'll have a problem--but be prepared for CMs to engage your daughter in conversation in order to find out her age. (That's why it's never good to lie about this! :rotfl: Kids always give you away!)
OTOH, we were at WDW just after my DS turned three, and the CM at CBR refused to sell us a park pass for him. She insisted he could still get in free and a ticket was unneccessary. :confused3 (No, we didn't rat her out, but I do wonder if she's still working there!)

Disney won't ask you for a birth certificate - they will (maybe) ask you her age. You tell them two and you are good to go.

You absolutey do not need any kind of proof. At most a CM may perhaps ask you the age. End of story. You will have absolutley no problem whatsoever.:thumbsup2

Lydia is tall for her age too, and we never had any problems getting her in. We had a few CMs ask for her ticket, but we just politely told them, "She's two." and they just waved us through. No big deal. You might want to bring a copy of her BC, just for your peace of mind though.

I agree that Disney won't be a problem but having a copy of the birth certificate is a simple "insurance plan". I took DD to WDW a month before her 3rd birthday partly to get in a mostly free trip for her while we could. We were never asked for any proof of age and may have been asked once how old she was. Like others who've posted, I was concerned because she's tall for her age and looked older as well but no one ever expressed doubt or skepticism.

You so don't need to worry about this for one more second. They will trust you and i'm sure you won't even get asked. When we took my 3-yr. old last year we just walked her over the turnstyle cause swiping her card & having her walk through was such a pain. Nobody ever even asked! We so could have not even bought her tix! :upsidedow

We've never had a problem and our boys are tall for their age as well. My 2.5 yr. old (not quite 2.5) is wearing 3T and some 4T clothing to give you an idea of his size. When our oldest was 2.5 we got asked how old he was but we were never asked to provide proof of his age. If it makes you feel better than make a copy of the BC and take it with you.

I have wallet sized Birth Cert. for my kids for travel. They were 5 dollars at my local city hall and they are laminated. I always take them while traveling. It just makes me feel better. (Have a great trip!)

Just prior to ds turning two we were asked twice at the turnstiles going into DisneyLAND - we just said, he's two, and they didn't ask us for proof (although I had it on me since ds is tall for his age). Once just after ds turned three when going into WDW the CM waved us through w/out swiping ds's ticket (we had one for him). Like a pp experienced - the CM seemed to think we didn't need one. Like the others have said, I don't think you need to worry about it at all, but if it makes you feel better to bring along a copy of the BC, why not? It's not like it will take up any room in your bag and in the unlikely event you do meet up with an overzealous CM you'll be prepared. :)

I'll be there the week before you - I'll report back. ;) Russ is 2.5 and I'm carrying his BC with me, mostly because I always travel with his BC and my POA from his father, just in case. He's pretty tall, but I wish the CMs luck at talking to him. If they can get him to talk (he's pretty shy at first) he's near impossible to understand. :teeth: "Wrushishtwoannahaf!"

All airlines request this for lap children of any age. Just in case any one had never experienced this. I took DS at 6 mos and thankfully called the airlines that said it did not matter what age they were as long as they are a lap child there needs to be a bc.

Just FYI cause I never would have thought infants needing one to verfiy age.

We traveled when DS was about 5 months old, and didn't have his birth certificate with us. We flew Southwest, and thankfully both ways, they were nice enough to let us go because they said it was obvious that he IS under two but reminded us that the next time, we needed to have his birth certificate. He was a pretty big 5 month old as well - weighing about 20 lbs!

My DD's are also tall for their age (very tall!) and we never had a problem and weren't even asked their age. The airlines are a different thing all together though! We have always had to show a birth certificate no matter how old they were (and they both flew when they were infants when there should have been no quesion). By the time they are 18 months though, I'm ready to buy them a seat anyway, it's too hard to have them in your lap. I just wish my budget would agree with that though!

HAHA! Sorry, I think this is pretty funny. We got asked on Friday about my daughter. She's two and a half and TINY. 2t clothes fall off of her.

But, she's really independent, and wanted to put the ticket in the turnstile. She was walking while doing it. The CM lets her go through and asks me for my ticket. I pointed out to her, that was my ticket, she's two. She gave me the up eyebrow and said "Wow, it's hard to tell, she's so big!"

LOL. No one has ever mistaken Julie for being bigger than she is. EVER. I get asked if she's 18months all the time. "Wow, she walks so well! How hold is she?" "Watch out for the baby, we don't want to hurt the baby." That's what we usually hear.

Point of the story, if you don't want to be questioned, have them sit in the stroller. Thanks for the chuckle.
