Will disney be forced to change their RIV restrictions if owners are unable to book their home resort

But that throws the entire system out of balance. The points used from other resorts needs to balance the home resort points spent elsewhere.

Nah - if the RIV resale owners lose more points, then that just means more "free" breakage inventory for Disney to rent. More profit from the DVC system.

For these "Ferengi," that would be considered a feature of the new resale rules, not a bug...

You are close, if I am not mistaken there is some verbaige that Disney can at a future time make the resale points like direct points for an upcharge. Sandisw, I believe you commented on this before.

Yes, they can add anything like that if they want to. They gave themselves a lot of options in terms of the restrictions.

I think for savvy RIV resale buyers who know how to work the system to their advantage, and understand all the ins and outs of DVC, getting locked out of being able to travel when/how they want to will only be an occasional problem.

For the non-savvy buyer, and yes, there will be many of them... I expect to see some rage posts in a couple of years. If there are enough of them it could create a PR problem for DVC, regardless of what the contract specified that they signed. Telling those people that they should have understood what they were buying before they bought it is probably not going to quell the rage very much.

As a resale buyer, all I ever saw was the sales contract. I never saw any of the other documents that govern DVC.
