My kids would like to release paper lanterns on the one year anniversary of my husband's passing 12/27. We are planning a trip to Disney for the two weeks of Christmas break. Do you know if Disney will have any problems with us releasing paper lanterns while we are there?

I am sorry for your loss.

Please rethink your plans about releasing these lanterns. Balloon and lantern releases are popular methods for remembering people, but they are a danger to wildlife.

"Entire countries have banned the use of sky lanterns, including Austria, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, Spain, Germany and parts of Canada. In the USA, bans include California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and Washington, . Other states including Kansas and Missouri and the New York Division of Fire Prevention and Control are also looking into adopting changes to fire codes to regulate the use of sky lanterns."

I'm sorry for your loss. Others have already said that Disney will not allow it. There are many other beautiful ways to mark the anniversary of your husband's passing that won't harm wildlife. For example, you could find a private spot at your resort and blow bubbles (make sure you aren't near others who might not want to have them pop on them, though!).
