This year when crossing with my 19 year and 15 year old, I was asked where is the kids father. I have sole custody and the kids haven't had any contact with him for 4 years. This was the first time I've ever crossed with out my custody papers.
Anyway I said the kids have no contact with their dad. I was very flustered ( it was late st night and in a snow storm) The guard questioned that. My daughter said " he abandoned us " I said the first thing that popped into my mind " he beat me" the guard then just asked it we were all coming back together and dropped it.
