Will current FOTL system be in place mid May?

Based upon the current posts and trip reports, it looks like FOTL hasn't been changed over to the new system that was reported earlier in the year. Since we booked the HRH based upon this perk, this makes me happy :) . My question is, are they still planning on changing FOTL to "once per ride per day" and if so, when?

Yes, there are still plans to install card readers at each Express entrance to "scan" room keys as on-site hotel guests enter. This will eliminate any issues of "fake" hotel keys (yes, you can now buy old Portofino and Hard Rock keys from the not-very-honest ticket sellers on I-Drive) and will, eventually, enforce the one-FOTL-ride per-day per-guest entitlement.

You may already notice some of the marketing collateral already changing the small print to "once per day."

The good news is, due to some of the many technical issues right now with the Universal Express system, this won't be happening for quite some time. Who knows, at this point it might not be until Spring Break 2002. But, yes, the long-term plan is still out there (especially with Royal Pacific coming on-line late next year).

Sorry to hear that there are dishonest people abusing this system but extremely happy to hear we will reap the benefits of this program next month!!! :D :D

Thanks very much for the info! We are so looking forward to this trip!! 33 days and counting...

The tip is to use it before it changes! I can't believe people will sell old keys. I wonder if they try to change the date too.

It'll get confiscated...they are doing that a whole bunch now...and if your card is blank, you'll also be in line with the other folks...

I extended my stay an extra night at HRH last month and had a different key with my last night on it. On my last day I accidently showed my expired key when going onto Hulk and the employee bent the card, then gave it back to me with a dirty look saying it was expired. Luckily I had the current card floating around in my pocket!

Can you believe there is now an "unofficial contest" among the Universal employees to see which attraction can confiscate the most expired or invalid Hard Rock/Portofino room keys. It may not be nice, but it isn't fair for guests who are trying to "cheat" the system.

Spiderman and Men in Black currently hold the number one positions in each park.

I wonder if anyone is selling Universal Express tickets. I remember hearing people sell Fast Pass tickets on eBay. Unless people are buying it for a collection, this is a waste of money since they are dated anyway.

Just did a check on eBay. Didn't find any Universal Express ticketa but there are a couple Hard Rock Hotel key cards. One went for $9.50! I wonder what a Holiday Inn key card from Erie, PA will bring... :D

Gee, Erie, PA????? Probably at least .05 cents. I was just KIDDING when I said you might find them on Ebay. Geezsh--I guess it really is true--you can buy ANYTHING at Ebay. I'm off to check to see what value may be had in my old gift wrap rolls ( you know the round cardboard all giftwrap comes round?) With it's many uses (sword fighting, cat toy, megaphone and more) they must be worth a fortune.
And I can't begin to think what the bubble wrap pieces might be worth. Pop. Pop. Pop pop. Pop.

:D

Hey there gang. Yes some less than scrupulous people are selling old Portofino and Hard Rock key cards as well as Universal Tickets off property. I'm sure you probably already know, but I feel the need to say it here anyway, do not buy your tickets from an off property seller unless it is your local travel agent or AAA. More and more lately there have been people getting majorly screwed by these guys along International drive and inside some of the local hotels and malls. They are selling tickets that have already been used or that have been partially used and telling people they are still good. Universal is not obligated in any way to compensate you if you buy one of these tickets, it would be up to you to go back to the seller and try to get your money back. As for the used, or blank room keys from our on site hotels, yes they are being confiscated at the attractions if they have expired or have no information on them. Some of these so called ticket sellers are selling used room keys as VIP passes to unsuspecting people. Dont fall into this trap, like the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Be informed, be smart, and have a great time while you're here :)
