Will BCV extend their contract?

As our research continues into our purchase of points (hopefully next year),i was wondering if anyone thinks that the powers that be will extend the end date for contracts at BCV(like they have done at OKW). It would be nice to know that our kids could wheel us round in our wheelchairs when we get really REALLY old :).
BCV is a more realistic price for us at the moment, unless BLT resale price drops a bit more over the next twelve months.

no one knows.

the OKW extension did not go very smoothly. and OKW is a standalone resort while BCV is connected to the BC/YC - so if disney's hotel division wants to go in a different direction with those hotels, that limits what DVC can do with BCV...

i will guarantee you that if BCV is extended, the pricing will be very expensive. it cost OKW owners $15-25 per pt to extend their contracts past 2042 - that's for pts that can't be used for 30+ years. BCV would certainly be higher.

BCV and BWV have the highest direct price of any 2042 resort, so I'm sure DVC wants to sell longer BCV contracts. But DVC may want to sell new full-length contracts in 2040 rather than an extension now..

But Disney has to legally allow and sell DVC an extended lease.

Then there's the YC. If/when there's a DVC @ YC, DVC may want to extend BCV/BWV. And perhaps that's what we're waiting for?

I do wonder about the mechanicals of the pool in 2042 and beyond...may be some very expensive repairs needed..

YC possibility has been discussed before and determined that there is pretty much 0.00 room to build villas at the yacht club without:
A. Removing the Conference center, that will never happen
B. build the rooms into the existing resort like they did at the AKL, this could happen, but doubt it cause there are too many conference goers that stay here, loosing space to a DVC wouldnt make sense

In essence you will never see a yacht club dvc

BCV is the wild card right now. For the last 5-6 months DVC has been ROFRing a huge number of points at BCV, about 90% of all points ROFRed across all results during that period. No one knows why, but they obviously have plans in the works.

there is still enough demand for DVC to be able to resell those ROFRed BCV contracts at a profit. i really doubt that it gets any more complicated than that...

Agree.

Overall I think the odds of additional short-term extensions (like the 15 at OKW) are fairly low. Seems like a short-sighted move when you consider what Disney stands to make by repurposing BCV, BWV and VWL in another 30 years.

That said, offering extensions for $20-30 per point would provide a nice boost to the bottom line at a time when sales are slow. That's the one reason I wouldn't rule it out completely.

If it happens, you can bet that it will be expensive and overpriced.
