originally, we planned on arriving at 11am on a Friday...but those flights are crazy expensive. i found a flight that leave Thursday night and gets into MCO at 1am Friday morning.

Cant decide if I should

A = sleep in the loby
B = get a cheap room at the airport for 10 hours
C = just bite the bullet and add an extra night onto our DVC reservation

I would get a room in the Hyatt in the airport. Unless your DVC room is cheaper.
At that time getting off the plane and being in a bed within 15 min (no checked luggage) is very nice!!
Hop on 1st ME bus

I prefer to book the extra night. I like to get to the resort, unpack, and settle in so that is what I'd do. You could sleep in the next morning.

I vote extra night and wake up to the magic

OP, Im arriving close to your time. We are scheduled to land at 11:45 pm. We have to get our luggage and then to ME. I expect getting to our resort approximately 1-130 am. I booked us a night at our place so we can just wake up and be where we are planning on staying all week.

I plan on placing my Instacart order for delivery for the following morning.

If you have the points, I would just book an extra night and just wake up at BWVs. And most certainly wouldnt want to be sleeping in the lobby after traveling or actually for any reason.

Let us know what you decide.

With a flight arriving at 1AM, I'd stay at the airport hotel--with picking up luggage and ME transport, you'd be at the BWV at 2:30AM. I know I'd be in better shape the next day if I could crash at a hotel earlier than that!

how much are you saving on air? subtract a day's worth of meals, the cost of a room and are you still saving? factor in the 'cost' of the hassle of moving, are you still saving?

I'd also head to the resort. I literally just did the same thing. Arrived at 2am, but checked in thru the app and went straight to the room. BOOM. Wake up, kids can hit the pool, etc, if you aren't going to the park that day.

We definitely do change hotels when traveling, but only typically when changing parks i.e. Disney to Universal to Lego etc.

Disney has always been very good to us at combining reservations b/w dvc and personal for us. We are not good at saying goodbye. On more than one occasion we have added a day on either end, and they've been able to keep us in the same room.

I am in a similar situation. Decided to fly in the night before our trip was to start and we are arriving at 12:30am. I priced out staying at the airport, but then i would still have to get to WDW in the morning. I didn't find any significant savings at the airport compared to staying at POR.

This is a short trip for us and we wanted to go to DS our first morning, so with no DVC rooms available I booked POR and figured we would hopefully be able to grab the magical express bus and be at the resort by 1:30am. If we sleep in until 9ish we should be good. Then we will send our bags off and we will go to DS. With it being such a short trip for us (only 5 nights) I really wanted to just get to WDW and not arrive and have to deal with getting to WDW in the morning. Plus the cost of the hotel rooms at the airport or even nearby hotels wasn't any great savings.

For some reason grabbing a late flight and sleeping in a little sounded better than having to get up at 4am to get to the airport.

My vote is to get a room at the airport and take ME transport the next morning. You will get to your final destination bright and early and have a full day at WDW fully rested. Just my opinion.

This is what we are doing on our next trip.

Does DME run all night? Is it only the luggage services that stops at some point at night?

For our upcoming trip, it is definitely worth it. We are spending under $200 for the Hyatt, but let's assume $200. The airfare savings was about $250 per person x 4 = $1000. A 2br std at BLT, where we are staying, is 39 points for that night. But we were already borrowing from 2019 for this trip, not to mention that rooms are booked at 11 mo that time of year.

kboo, yes, ME runs all night although after a flight lands at 10:00 pm, you must retrieve your own luggage.
My dd decided last minute to meet us in September and arrived at BWVs approximately 1:00 am but she made
multiple stops instead of just YC/BC/BW. I am guessing since less guests they modify as they need that time of night.

cost is $950 for the 11am Friday flight (5 people)

cost is only $225 for the 1am flight, because I have enough points at a much cheaper rate

So yes...$725 ends up being worth it....it looks like I am just adding the extra night onto our DVC plans. Thanks all
