Two people, no meal plan. DS 24 needs a few $100 for cash on his cruise so that leaves me with $600 for our trip for 4 days. Hit the ATM or guess I have enough? I am a worry wart to make sure I have enough for emergency.
This is the same son I sent to Australia when he was 15 and he came home with a tatoo and a speeding ticket in Hawaii on a scooter.:lmao:

Just need a little clarification- Is this just spending money (food and souvenirs) for the parks? Will you be staying onsite (eliminating transportation costs)?

It seems like a lot of money to me, unless you're anticipating buying a ton of souvenirs.

it doesn't seem like a lot of money to me.
that is only $150 a day (4days) for the couple to spend.

food, beverages, booze, snacks, meals, photos, parry hotter frogs, etc.

if scbelle is staying onsite, she can do charging privileges i the park with a cc on file.

i easily spend $600 on pins at HRC easily in a day.

I guess I just have a really budget-minded mind! I have no doubt that they could easily spend their $600 on their trip (although I was calculating for 3 days), but it can be done for less. I've done a 13-hour Disney day where I only bought a side of fries to sustain me (not recommended...). Substituting water for sodas also can really help bring the costs down. But I won't give up Butterbeer!

I splurge at HRC too! Except on food and drinks. Their pins are really tempting though- I've been trying to resist :)

i had it stated as $200 per day as the poster wrote, 4 days for the money.
the heading for her post said 3 days, so i edited it to $150 a day.
that would be $75 a person since two are going on the trip.

in the earlier years i did orlando, i was on a budget.
there were 4 of us doing vacations to the motherland and the darkside.

when the hotels went up at universal onsite, i started staying there after i left disney resorts.

for the past 9 years, i just budget my costs for the 18 days and have some flexibility. (such as pins at hrc.......)

i generally know the costs of items for my vacation stay but always have money in reserve for the "gotta have it now" items, or for something that i decided on at a spur of the moment. (or if an emergency arises....)
thinking Rising Star and the 3 drinks there.........totally unplanned in advance.

i see it as a couple doing a 3 or 4 day stay onsite or offsite, could easily spend $150 a day and more.
a sit down meal at the hotel or city walk, lunch in the parks, snacks, water bottles, souveniers, postcards, bertie beans, car parking fee, or taxis, park tickets, a couple of drinks, butterbeer in the souvie mug, etc. could add up to more than they thought it would be.

peeps that do a trip to the darkside might only do this once every 4-5 years.
they might tend to spend a bit more on souvies since they don't have plans to make it a yearly vacation.

i'm sure a person could have a marvelous time at the parks without spending a lot of money.
the basics one should have is money for incidentals, food, water.

i choose to plan my expenses in advance but come prepared with a cc and travelers checks in case a neccesity arises.

in all my trips, i return home with never having to use the traveler checks.

To save a bit of money and if you're an AAA member, make sure to show your card at each store and restaurant.

Wow, I'm bringing $600 for 10 days! I would think $600 is enough for 4 days, but I guess it depends on how much they will be buying and if they plan on eating out for 3 meals a day.

and you're laughing, bet you weren't then;)

i've been lugging the same set of traveler's checks for 5 years as emergency money (jik the CC's stop working due to fraud, yes it happens even when on vacation:headache:) and I also remember buying 'a few' unexpected drinks at rising star...what song is it you wanna hear?

back to the question - budget $75 day pp without souveniers. On day 2 if you have leftover money, stash it away for next trip:rolleyes1

I think it would be enough, but it does depend on your spending habits and some other varibles. Are you staying at a place that offers free breakfest? If so that helps. Are you planning to by souveniers? You can walk out to City Walk for lunch and eat dinner there as well. We take 300.00 per day and we are a family of 5.

i think that song was "like a virgin" or was it "give it to your best shot".....

whatever, i think we all had a buzz by the time Andy went on stage.....

are we gonna hit that place again this year?
please say yes............

I think $600 for 4 days is plenty. It depends on you, like the others say. When my fiancé and I go, we always have continental breakfast. We normally buy the Meal deal passes and take water bottles to the parks. We definitely have to buy butter beers, shot glasses every time we go, maybe a souvenir or two, drink a day or two at the parks, buy a ride picture, and a couple activities and maybe restaurants. I usually have budgeted $100 per day for both of us and will normally have money left over from the day and I can add it to the next day. We also have annual passes so we don’t have to pay for parking and get some discounts which help a little. $600 sounds like more than enough, have fun!

you know we'll meet up somewhere:dance3:after the mr & I burn thru our resort credit on an early dinner. Still miffed we missed it last year, marley's calling me:hippie:it's all good 'mon.

OP forgot to ask if you're going to 'do' citiwalk? If so you'll need more $;)

We are doing a five day trip this year and i budget in $750 for food but that is because there is usually 4 of us but for the past three years its been just me and DW wife so we winde up bring home extra money we don't use for food and DW usually budgets way too much for souvineers :lmao:

It depends on your spending habits. We don't buy any souviners, don't buy any alcoholic beverages and usually have a condo -- eat breakfast in (so there is grocery cost), bring snacks and fruit to the parks for lunch, and usually have a modest dinner out. With that in mind food and spending (does not include condo, park admissions, and rental car) typically run us $100 a day for three people. I budget half of that for travel days $50. So for example on a three night trip / two full days -- two travel days, I budget $300 for food and spending. I usually come extremely close to that -- just a little over or under. This money even covers my gas fill up for my rental car, my airport parking, etc.

With this in mind, I think you are bringing plenty of money if you are conservative in your spending, and I think you would have enough for unexpected expenses. I'd always though travel with a credit card -- just in case of something like a medical emergency, etc.

Now what is that date so I can be in the audience? :rotfl:

Do you like souvenirs? I would recommend that you hold off on buying any until your last day if there is any money left over. Your budget is doable if you are not constant snackers and bring a water bottle. I should think a burger type lunch (we like Richters, but I've read others that didn't - YMMV) and a nice dinner with not too many drinks ought to do. We don't do breakfasts. Maybe you can get by with a bagel or a pastry. We had to have the butterbeer at IoA but we didn't feel compelled to get the special mug.

A lot of the counter service restaurants have those huge soda cups (they offer Minute Maid lemonade and that sort of thing) which are not refillable, if memory serves, but they are really large, and the drink selection is good, so I should think that it would wet your whistle. We only needed one of those each at lunch and a large bottle of water each during the day but it wasn't overly hot when we went. Keep hydrated or you'll get sick. Don't skimp on fluids! There are tons of drink choices in both parks, so reserve some of your budget accordingly.

Don't forget the photographers that are positioned in the front of the parks. You can buy those pictures if you are so inclined. I don't know what they cost, but they must be fairly pricey. We bought the HPFJ ride pic which ran us upwards of $20 but I can't remember so don't quote me on that one.

I honestly couldn't tell you what we spent in souvenirs. We bought probably $150 worth, not including the photo (and that doesn't buy much). Bring a credit card with you, make drinks a priority in your budget and see what you end up with before you purchase souvenirs. I believe your budget is definitely do-able if you can maintain self-discipline. In reality, you could possibly get by on less $$ if you were really strict with yourself. I don't think I could do it, though.:rolleyes1

I also normally wait until the last day to buy any souvenirs to make sure you're okay on your budget... Unless someone in your party gets picked Olivander's Wand Shop... And FJ pic (the single photo) is $35 unless they lowered the price which would be nice.
