I was reading the stroller threads and hadn't planned on taking any sort of stroller for my 5.5 yr old until looking at those. If we think he needs to ride can we rent one at the park? He is about 46" and 45 lbs. We have a 1 yr old and will be bringing his stroller but older DS can't fit into that! How much are the rentals?

Thanks!

Our kids fit in the double strollers pretty well until about a year ago and they were 8 and 5 then! It just helped when they were tired of walking and for a spot to put our stuff..not sure the price of single strollers but Debs site seems to have alot of info, maybe its there? www.wdwig.com
- I think you should be fine

The rental strollers are large and more like carts so they are easy to push even with big kids in them. You will not have a problem fitting your 5 yr. old in them.

DD almost 8 (61lbs) and DS5 (36lbs) fit in the double stroller ($15.) OK. DD had to make sure her legs were crossed or knee's up. However, when I took DD to Epcot by herself, I traded the double for a single, and she wasn't very comfortable in it. It was a little small for her width wise, and of course a little short. You may want to "size" DS in a rental before going ahead and renting.
I would say a double would work well, and perhaps you can put your 1 yr old in it as well to avoid pushing two strollers around.

We rented a double stroller ($15) for DD6 (43 lbs) and DS5 (40 lbs) and they fit in it fine with room to spare for our very heavy backpack. DS 8 (63) could also fit in it when he got tired and one of the others got out. I would highly recommend getting a stroller for anyone 8 or under. The heat and the walking just wears kids down. I resisted the idea of getting a stroller until right before we started on our trip last week and now I can't imagine how we would have done everything we did without it. We tied a bright orange bandana to the handle which made it very easy to spot when we got out of rides. It was the best $15 /day we spent.

Thanks for the info! We're still going to take a stroller for the 1 yr old but will rent a single or double when we get there. I think my 5 yr old will love to ride in it - and they'd both probably get a kick out of riding together in the double one.

Will our umbrella stroller fit in a locker? I'm guessing it is too tall.

No need to worry about fitting your umbrella stroller in a locker. When you rent the stroller, just check the umbrella stroller and pick it up when you drop off your rental. This way you will have a stroller for the little one getting in and out of the park. We just came back and did this everyday -- worked great!

That's great! I didn't know there was a place to "check" items like that. That will work the best for us! Thanks!

Yes, the stroller rental place will check it and give you a claim tag. Have fun. Also, don't forget to save your stroller receipt so if you hop to a different park later in the day you don't have to pay again for a stroller.

OOOOH, I/ve got to remember that stroller check thing for next year. We will be going with a 2 1/2 yr old and 6 yr old. I know I will need the stroller for to and from the park with the baby, but also was not looking forward to pushing 2 strollers.

Another thing - if you forget to cash in your receipt for your disney dollar when returning the stroller at night, just keep it and give it to them the next time you return - they will give you your disney dollar for post-dated receipts as well.
