Wildwood Nj half?

I haven't but I'm curious to hear what someone who has may have thought of it. I grew up vacationing there and think it would be cool to run there someday.

I have never been there. I have heard many fun stories about it from relatives who used to vacation there when they were growing up.
I am running this race with one of those relatives.

When I read about the course map (did not see a map but they described it) it sounds like you run up and down ocean street by the water...then by the peir and it sounds like they kind of stay in that area and so it sounds fun and interesting.

Either way it will be a good time. It is in May a week before Memorial. The hotel rooms are very reasonable.

Haven't done this one, but I might add it to the list for the future! I have done the Seaside 1/2 (won't do it again) and I am doing the Long Branch 1/2 in April and the Atlantic City 11k. I think I've got enough beach runs in this year!

I will have to review the Wildwood half afterwards.

What seaside half did you do? I see one listed in Ventura...what did you not like about it?

The half is actually in Seaside, NJ. Here's a link to their site. The facebook page probably has more info, but neither place is overly informative.

I found the race incredibly boring. In 2013, it took place right after the big boardwalk fire and that did affect the course somewhat, but I don't think it was different enough that I would try it again when the boardwalk is fixed.

The race started on the boardwalk and ran through Island Beach State Park. Miles 2-10 (approx) were just an out and back down a long road. You couldn't see the beach because the trees were too high, so the scenery never changed. I felt like the water stops were really sparse, but I carried my own. I also thought the finisher's medal was kind of cheap and I've become a medal snob ;)

It was a relatively inexpensive race though. I think I paid about $45 when I signed up early. For that price, I can't really complain about too much.

That story reminds me of the one I did in Honolulu last year...the Happalua. One would think that a half marathon starting on Waikiki beach would be awesome but I wasn't impressed with it at all.

Despite the fact it was in Hawaii...and it started alongside the beach...most of it was just around buildings...nothing great. It ended at Diamond head.

Probably the biggest downer in that race for me was their lack of pop's. They were far and few between. The first one...and I do mean ONE was at mile 3 I think and the line was painfully long...then there were two more just down the road...after that...I don't think there were anymore until the finish line...I ended up using the public bathrooms at the police station. It was bad. The lines for that bathroom were sick and everyone was complaining about how there were no pop's in this race.

It was also pissing down rain. However weather had nothing to do with how I felt about the race. It was by far the worse race I have ever done. It was a real downer and I wouldn't do it again....oh and the medal just a bit bigger than a quarter!

so I'm perusing their fb page it look like a lot of fun! I'm definitely putting this one on my list for someday!

It sounds like the route is very nice...either running on the boardwalk or ocean drive...

I am looking forward to it and will see if this will become a yearly thing!

FYI, I just received an email from Active for $15 off registration. The coupon code is GIRLSRUNWILD.

Make sure you come back and report on your experience! I totally plan to do this one some day!
