Wilderness Preserve

I'm planning first trip to Orlando for April 05 and though we love theme parks it would be great to take in some natural sights. Kids are 8 and 9 and we're thinking of visiting Disney Wilderness Preserve but can't find much info. Does anyone have any to share? We're particularly intrigued by the "Buggy rides" mentioned in the Brits Guide, but would like to know what wildlife we may encounter there.
