Wilderness Lodge vs. Grand Californian

For all those who have had the opportunity to stay at both WL at WDW and GC at DL, how do they compare? I have stayed at GC and am thinking about staying at WL, but am concerned that the two are too similar. Is it worth it, or should I go with another hotel at WDW? What are your thoughts?

I could be wrong, but isn't the GC more like the Grand Floridian? I've never been to either, but I thought they were supposed to be alike. But I am clueless. Did you look up picutres of the two to compare. If you think they are too much alike, there are several more to chose from as well.

OK, I was wrong. I looked at pictures and they do look similar. And like I said, I have not been to either, but I think they do look different though. The room set up might be about the same though. But the resort itself looks quite different in set up. At WL you will be out more away from the hussle and bussle, more remote too. From pictures, I think the WL looks prettier. That is my dream destination that most likely will never happen! LOL! I'm not sure what the price difference is either, but check out the GF or Poly which are right on the monorail line. Or perhaps look into the AKL.

We've stayed at both. There is a sense about each that is similar, but if you look closely they are different. Just like the AKL and WL are very similar, but different since they were designed by the same person and are pretty much the same floor plan.

I think they call the style of the GC Craftsman and WL NW Pacific/National Park. WL is more rugged, GC neater lines, but still the similar dark look with high ceiling lobby and large stone fireplace.
