Wilderness Lodge treasure hunt

I have heard about a treasure hunt or memory box or something like that at WL. I heard it had something to do with the DisBoards. Anyone have any info to share withe me?

Sadly, the box disappeared and I don't think it has been restored. Debate went on for a while about what might have happened to the box. Some thought is got taken by accident and others asserted that a CM might have removed it as it wasn't "official" but I don't think the poster who put it there has yet replaced it. I know I was disappointed. We'd planned to look for it!

As I understand, it was just a small box. The man who started it put some stuff in it, and then as people visited they would add a little trinket about their hometown or Disney trips or whatever. You'd sign your name and carefully put it back for the next person. The original man had directions to the box that you could get here on the Boards. The box was hidden in some trees on or near the path from the Lodge to the campground, not exactly a highway! Nevertheless, when the box disappeared there was debate. Some claimed the box had no business being there as it was not sanctioned by Mickey, although most of us were just sad it was gone.

I am sorry I can't remember the screen name of the poster who placed the box. I know he was really bummed when it went missing. Perhaps a search for "Wilderness Lodge Memory Box" will get you to the old threads about it.

sounds like a Geocache. Disney does not approve of these on property due to the whole nature of the game! People hide these boxes and leave coordinates on a site www.geocaching.com and you take a gps and find the site! It is a wonderfull family activity, however, you typically hide things in places that are not real easy to get to, and not noticable by passerby's. Anyway, Disney, did not like the idea of people wondering in certain areas and so they monitor this activity and remove all boxes placed.
