I know no one can give me a definite on this but, as I have been reading on here it is my understanding
"they" are taking a portion of the south side of the lodge and making them into DVC rooms. What do you think the chances are of those being completed by January of 2017? And maybe getting one of those room at that time or should we stay away from there altogether until construction is over. By the looks of the picture I have seen even at 10 months it looks like to me construction will still be in full swing. Just appreciate any thoughts on this.

Completed? Maybe. But they will be an entirely new property and the whole of the WL project will be ongoing. It is unclear on when they will start selling VWL2 points, and what the units will be or pricing.

If you want to stay DVC in January 2017, you should secure another reservation that has certainty.

The Notices of Commencement for the Wilderness Lodge, Villas and Cabins allow construction through April 2018. But that is for all of the construction at WL including the new cabins, the replacement pool, and the restaurants, the conversion of some of the rooms in WL and other buildings that are being added. I would expect when it is finished they would open the pool, same with the restaurant(s). Then if VWLII construction meets the Florida laws for timeshares, DVC would begin selling points at the new villas and then when it is opened the VWLII some of the rooms could be booked. The number of rooms that members will be able to book will depend on what is Declared, usually it is only a small portion of VWLII.

But keep in mine if you book at VWL you would not get a room in the remodeled wing as that will belong to VWLII. You will be staying in the current DVC building.

Okay. What do you guys think about the Polynesian and do you think I can get a standard villa for January 2017? I think I have decided against wilderness with all the construction.

Assuming you are not looking to stay the first part of January (1st through Marathon weekend), I think you have a very good chance to secure a Poly studio at 7 months for a January stay. Of course, you'll be online ready to book the second the window opens, right? :teeth:

So the rooms that are being converted at the lodge will fall under a different booking assignment? When AKV converted some of the Jambo rooms, is that how it was identified in the booking category?

No, it is not the same. I expect the new resort name will be listed separate from VWL and not just be a booking category like Jambo House as it will be considered different resort like BLT or OKW.

The process of building out AKV was completely different than what is happening at VWL. VWL is a fully-sold property with a 2042 expiration. AKV was built as a single property, with one large pool of points and several booking categories, of which those original Jambo rooms were one.

There are a variety of logistical and legal reasons the converted VWL rooms will be a part of an entirely different contract. Current VWL owners will not get 11 month booking at these new units.

I agree, because the original VWL has such an earlier end date. DVD might offer an VWL end date extension like they did at OKW but only they know what makes them the most money.

I agree. Disney was pretty clear in their press release that VWL2 will be a completely separate resort with no crossover with the current VWL resort.
