I am very excited that this November will be our first official stay as DVC members. I have literally only stayed here for 2 nights, 4 years ago, and decided then and there 1. We needed DVC 2. This had to be our home resort!

My question is for WL regulars or long term owners.

1. Any bits of insight or pearls of information you’d like to share about staying here? Hidden gem things to do or places to relax?

2. Are you happy with the changes and upgrades they have made in the last few years? I’m curious if the new resort nearby coming soon will impact the isolated feel I fell in love with I the first place....

Thanks for all your help, I’m all (Mickey) ears!!!!

I personally like the updates: the bigger "quiet" pool and clearing of some trees on the lake front to allow more views (while maintaining the wilderness feel). Those two are the most noticeable, IMO (other than the cabins on the front of the lake, which to me blend very well, perfect fit more so than the Poly Bungalows). Also clearing some of the trees allowed more light to hit the new "quiet" pool if I recall correctly it seemed brighter over there.

As for the new resort it is going to be about the same distance away from Wilderness Lodge as Contemporary is (as the crow flies). Personally I don't think the Wilderness Lodge will change much for the worse because of it. If anything it may add dining locations that will be a walk/boat ride away (if they reopen the pathway that is currently closed for refurbishment, I suspect they will maintain the walkway).

As for things to do I'll let others chime in on.

Also you should join in on the DVC forums for Wilderness Lodge DVC Resorts

Boulder Ridge: https://www.disboards.com/threads/v...ollectors’-edition-updated-28-jan-19.3242976/

Copper Creek: https://www.disboards.com/threads/•...k-villas-cabins-owners-lovers-group•.3631019/

They seem to love people to interact on the two threads together regardless of what DVC resort they own at Wilderness Lodge. Just the specific ones are appropriate to ask if its specific question to that DVC. But general Wilderness Lodge questions both would gladly answer.

Definitely head to the DVC forum. We are owners as well and LOVE it. Have you been in the BRV building yet? If not go check that out next time. (Not sure if you bought BRV or CCV) they have a lovely train room that’s so cozy and their little atrium is beautiful. We also like watching the electrical water pageant from Geyser Point.

I’m sort of excited about the new resort (despite its initial concept drawing). As long as it doesn’t result in trees being cut down surrounding the lodge then I think it will be nice to have something close by with maybe new dining options. I do worry if we would have to share a boat. If that MK boat has to make an extra stop it would really lengthen the ride time and riding the boat to MK is a favorite activity of mine.
