Hi

We are planning on going to Disney for the 4th of July and don't know where to stay, either WL or Poly. We went to Disney for the first time last year and stayed at the Poly but this year it is much more costly (about $700 more) for the week.

I want to see everybody's pros and cons for each hotel. Can you walk to the Trans Ctr from WL?? I know you can get the ferry. How about the pool?? Can you walk anywhere from the WL?

Where would you stay and why?

The price we got for Poly w/ AAA discount is:
7 ngts: $4,113.26
6 ngts: $3,641.26
5 ngts: $3,169.26

The price for WL w/ AAA is:
7 ngts: $3,262.76
6 ngts: $2,910.76
5 ngts: $2,558.76

We made just that same decision for our Dec. trip. We love the Poly, but are saving a substantial amount of $$$with WL. You cannot walk to TTC from WL, but you can take a boat to MK, CR, and Ft. Wilderness. You can also walk to Ft. Wil. As I have not actually stayed there yet, I can't comment on much else, but the price is what put us ovet the top. (and the kids saw the bunk beds and got really excited) I'm afraid we will miss the monorail, but am excited to try something new. Plus I've heard the Christmas decorations there are great! With all the $$$ we're saving on the room, we'll have more to spend in the parks.

My choices given what you've expressed above:
1) Shift your travel dates to July 8th and enjoy reduced value season rates and AAA discount at both hotels.
2) If not possible, I'd book the WL and be very happy there even though I'm a Poly Proponent. Whenever a poster mentions money and says that they have been to Poly and question its cost, then that suggests to me that the Poly might not have fully met their expectations on the last trip and its time to try something new. I'd hate for you to come back and regret the additional cost.

Just be expecting the rooms to be quite a bit smaller than the Poly, but on the pro side, everything is in one location at WL!
