Price being equal, which resort would you choose during the holiday week? Contemporary Garden Wing - has larger possibly newer rooms and location to MK is clutch as well as monorail to other resorts and Epcot, but the Wilderness Lodge has a more festive holiday resort atmosphere. Thoughts?

CR will have bigger rooms and, as you said, walking access to MK and monorail to TTC, then EP. WL is so gorgeous at Christmas, but you will only have boat access to MK and buses to all the other parks. I think it depends on what you value more, size of room and location or atmosphere. If you will be visiting the parks a lot, during Christmas, location can make a huge difference in your overall experience. If you do choose CR, you can always boat over to WL to enjoy the decorations.

WL is always my christmas resort of choice, it just feels VERY christmas to me. I don't mind CR for a regular stay, but you won't find me staying at any other resort other than WL at christmas.

WL is going to be better themed for Christmas and I'd lean towards that - but transportation, as you say, to MK or to Epcot is going to be easier from the Contemporary (with the monorail) It really all depends on what you want from your trip and what parks you're going to see.
(just a side thought - it's unfortunate the skyliner is only at the international entrance of Epcot and there's no line from the main entrance - it would've been advantageous to monorail to Epcot, then transfer to the skyliner to get to HS.)

Yep I have to vote WL for this. We haven't done it but we have talked about it. WL is amazingly beautiful especially with the decorations.

WL unless CR Tower MK view would start to tilt toward CR as transportation across Disney is maxed out 12/24 and 12/25. For me, the Tower and view are a plus. It would also take CR club for us. I also find the WL in the swamps of Florida odd as I have livedin Western wilderness areas and explored/stayed in historical lodges. WL is very nice. The path from MK to CR is a plus. I would note from experience that it can take multiple boats to get back to the WL from MK when you stay until park closing

I would vote WL unless your trip is super short and you are really only thinking about going to MK, as we did our first trip when we stayed at CR. I have no interest in staying at CR again, honestly, of the deluxe hotels it is the one that least matches the price point.

We’ve done split days between the two, but were staying in the CR tower. For convenience the CR can’t be beat IMHO, but the WL is gorgeous, especially at Christmas. If you’ll be spending some time just enjoying the resort, WL is wonderful (and has nicer pools if you have warm weather).

I’m struggling to find availability at WL the week before Christmas. Hope your dates are easier to find!
