We, family of 3, are going to WDW in November and doing a split stay. Currently the last five days of our trip are at Boulder Ridge. However, for our dates Wilderness Lodge now has availability. Would you switch to Wilderness Lodge considering the refurb has not yet happened for the Boulder Ridge rooms? Or keep the Boulder Ridge reservation?

I would switch. I heard those rooms are in desperate need of a refurbishment. I had considered staying there and ended up switching to a different hotel. I love wilderness lodge and it’s so convenient being in the main building

Is there a price difference?
Stayed in a studio at BRV in Dec 21 and the rooms do need a refurb.

Yes I would switch. The Wilderness Lodge has 2 comfy beds. The pull out couch beds in the studios are not as comfortable. I loved the new refurbished rooms at WL.

I've never stayed in a BRV room so I'm speaking out of ignorance here/not really qualified to give an opinion, but the BRV style has never appealed much to me especially with the comments you read about the current conditions. Unless you plan to use the amenities that come along with a villa room, I'd take a freshly renovated hotel-side room all day long, personally.

I considered a BRV one bedroom when the discounts came out, but I stuck with our Lodge room because I didn't want my DDs to have to sleep on a pull out sofa bed for a week, vs a real bed. I would like the extra space, but with the bed situation and reports of the BRV needing refurbs pretty badly, the Lodge rooms won. It would have been about $150 extra for us to move to the 1 BR BRV for our stay.

The price difference is very small. I think the WL room is a few dollars cheaper and that is with a nature view!
If you want the couch/pullout, get BRV.
If you want 2 queen beds, get WL.
WL rooms are new, versus BRV need a refresh.

We stayed at BRV in December, room was fine, our daughter complained that the sleep sofa was very uncomfortable. We switched back to the lodge for our next trip, although I'm not excited about the changes made to the lodge rooms.

I agree that the BRV units are in need of refurbishing, but we stayed there last August (and will be there again in September) and it was fine (although we didn’t need to use the couch pullout). We love it there - so peaceful!

I have an upcoming BRV stay and I can also confirm that the rooms are very worn. That being said, I do appreciate the kitchenette in the room. Having the floor space when the sleeper sofa is in couch form is also important to us. I’d still take WL over BRV if given the option.

So Boulder Ridge is the one that they say is in need of renovation? We are currently booked at another resort and I am sooo tempted to move over to Wilderness Lodge. However Im afraid of transportation issues. Has the boat ever been an issue? How are is the bus transportation? Is it every 20 minutes? Is it difficult or close to impossible to do a rope drop for Hollywood Studios if we stayed in here?

We loved the boat when staying at WL and later on at BRV. In fact, when going over to WL to eat, we typically go to MK and take the boat, it's so peaceful and relaxing. We very much prefer boat to bus, in fact.

We've found bus transportation at WL reliable, important for us because DH uses his powerchair. The bus stop has a roofed shelter, close to although not right at the point where you board. A bit dicey in rain.

It will take some maneuvering to rope drop DHS from there. A cab or rideshare would be easiest as you'll be getting up plenty early to get there otherwise.

I'd take the new and shiny Wilderness Lodge rooms over Boulder Ridge right now. You're also going to be closer to the lobby, Whispering Canyon, Roaring Fork, the pool, and the boat dock. Heck, my room at BRV had a dresser drawer that wouldn't stay closed, and the table in front of the pull-out had ball bearings in the carpet.
