Well, we finally picked dates and our resort and it came down to WILDERNESS LODGE:banana:  We are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, what is the best type of room at WL? Is a standard that bad or is another room choice better? I mean a standard room is ok with us but if we can get a different view for not much more, then we will look into that. Just wanted my options. Also, from anyone that has recently stayed at the WL, would you share your pics? Thanks all :)

WDW SUMMER 2008 HERE WE COME:cheer2: :woohoo:

We've stayed courtyard view twice and it really is pretty in the morning to look out over the pool and the lake. We were also lucky enough to be upgraded 1 night to a concierge level courtyard view. Now that's the way to travel.

We love Wilderness Lodge and any view you get is better than looking out your window at home!

We stayed in a standard room 5048 in Dec. and it was nice. We had a perfect view of Wishes every night. During the day you see trees, the smokehouse and the generators but at night it's amazing.

Our last 5 visits have been there and we just returned Thursday from 9 wonderful nights at the WL. Courtside, pool views are the best, nothing beats sitting on your porch, drink in hand watching the pool people. This trip we had woods view, upon checking in they gave us our room, do not take by the smokehouse, thats the service enterance for trucks, alot of noise in that area, and our room was sort of clean but items were left in the bathroom, in the fridge and on the table like someone was coming back. Not likely though because the clothes were all gone but we didn't feel that the linens were changed and decided to call the desk and state our issues. Bell man came with our luggage and he saw what we saw and followed us back to the desk and they up graded us to a courtyard pool room for the error of mousekeeping. This room was perfect, well cleaned and a good location, and our mousekeeper for the 10 days was excellent.

We've done conceirge here a bunch of years ago and we feel WL has the best conceirge over the Poly but the price now has shyed us away, we pack groceries and drinks and put the saving towards a longer stay. We feel there is no back room view at the Lodge, its a wonderful resort in its own rite and transportation here was second to none, fast and no waiting, whether buses or boats, along came another. Top notch resort at a good price with the perfect location.

Don't bother with a woodsview!

Got that when we stayed there and it was the worst view we've ever had at a Disney resort. We were on the side of the resort that's next to the Villas, right above a dumpster. It was lovely (not)!

Personally, I won't pay for a view at most WDW resorts. We take our chances with standard, and most of the time, get something decent.

I'd book a std. view because in my opinion the overall feel of the resort makes up for any less than perfect views from my room. I will say that I loved the view that overlooked the service entrance since we got to watch Wishes nightly and the first thing we'd see when we'd open the curtains was the Castle. I've had a view that looked towards the VWL pool and while it wasn't the greatest it was peaceful enough to be enjoyable.

We have ressies for October 2008 and we're pretty excited too! We booked a woods view (extra $100/week), but now I'm wondering if we should just do Std? Question -- do all of the rooms have little fridge's now or must you request one with your reservation? Are there any sections of the hotel that are really noisey (from inside your room) or sections that are more quiet? I haven't made any type of "request" with your ressie, and I'm just wondering if there's anything I should ask for, realizing of course, we may not get it anyway! But, hey, we'll be at WDW!! :)

Thanks!
Christy

All the rooms have fridges now.

We always book Woodsview because we want bunk beds, but I would book standard otherwise. We've been upgraded to courtyard a few times, but we don't spend much time in the room so it's not a big deal to us.

I would honestly just book standard view and save that $100. When we had the less than perfect view of the VWL pool we had booked a 'woods view'. All of the other times we've just booked standard and did got pixie dusted once and got upgraded to courtyard view.

But of course this is coming from a person that absolutly loves the WL/VWL so just being in that resort is enough for me. :)

In 4 trips, we always book standard view, and 3 of them were comped' to inner courtyard view. I got these comps' by simply making freinds with the CM checking us in.

The 4th, we were given a 1st floor room looking out at a muddy hole called the otter pond. I was pollite and went back to the desk and explained that room was not to our liking because we were worried my daughter 4 at the time, would go out the slider and play in the mud. I asked for something higher up, and the put us in an end room looking over the boat dock and the lake.

the only bad views are near the fron of the building facing the magic kingdom. you overlook the loading dock and trash compacter. not a nice view / smell when you want to relax on your balconey.
