Cheri, yes you get MINI sized drinks. The shots are full sized or at least they felt full sized as they were burning holes in my esophagus. But the speciality drinks are small, they want to wet your taste buds so you'll buy the big ones I guess. But we had a great time, I think I was in a bad mood yesterday, so take everything I said with a grain of salt, especially TEQUILA. hehe

Shell, Linda is right on about the plastic garment bags from the dry cleaners. I usually pack the wrinkly stuff last and then hang it up first. I didn't have any trouble with my dress and tuxes last year. You could also get a small bottle of that wrinkle release stuff and use it.

Also we are leaving Spring patch on Friday morning and flying in to FLA in the afternoon. We are probably going to go straight to Cocoa Beach as last year we were so tired that we got lost on the way down. It didn't make for a great start for the vacation (didn't help that I locked the keys in the car at the airport either). Who said they were at the Radisson and who was up for dinner and drinking?

Linda, Good lord I shop for myself all the time. I need a little girl to shop for. They laughed when I came in with a list at Build-a-bear. They asked if it was for my little girl, I said ah no my hairy god child. I got some strange looks, but still got what I wanted. Now I have to remember to pack it all.

I got my regional ornament this weekend. DH took me shopping and was very helpful. He actually found it I was just walking around mouth breathing.

Who ever was trying to entice my DH from his hole, good luck. He is as busy as a one armed paper hanger. We both deserve this vacation.

Have a great night everyone. Im going to finish watching football, and go to bed. TTY in the morning.

For the Fund..

And one for Linda. pooh:

Lorna, your gathering sounds like so much fun! Even if you were tired afterward, I'm betting it was worth it. And how great for your kids to have the continuity of friendship.

Tonya, Dimples will be VERY glad to see you! That is exactly why we got her, I think. We needed a little girl! Our son has only provided us with granddogs, and our adopted granddaughter is growing up - certainly NOT a little girl any more.

Excursions in St. Martin is a good question. I've been procrastinating. We'll probably just take a taxi to a beach. That strategy worked out very well for us in Cozumel - the driver took us to paradise - Nachicocoom.

Happy Day, All!

Good Morning     ,
Well this morning is another chilly morning here in NY. Well today we are off to the Doctor's for DS's 6 month check-up. Last night I did all my bills and then it was off to bed!! Have to go call my sisters' to wish her :bday: e she heads to work!!! Talk to you all later!!

Good morning,

Linda you'll love the Wilderness lodge.
We stayed there last December for our anniversary. The one dinner only restaurant is VER GOOD!! very expensive too!! But it features all the food from the Northwest, which is our home area.
We often go MG and catch the boat to wilderness lodge and walk the trail to the wilderness campground and then catch the boat there and go to the Contempory to eat at Chef Mickeys and then back.

Tonya, we will be at the Radisson too, but wont be up for partying. We old folks need our rest so we can stay up past 8 p.m. on the ship :rotfl2:

Have a great Monday everyone,
I am off to finish my last door sign today, I hope.

Pat, did you see that Gatorland is on fire!! Animals are ok so far, but all the newly remodled buildings are on fire.

Kathy

Good Morning Everyone!

It's a bright, sunny, chilly day here in NJ. It supposed to warm up a bit over the next few days though...high 50's, low 60's...which for this time of year is great!

Well we finally got the yard sale over with yesterday. We did pretty well I think. But then again, the way I look at it..all of the stuff was $0 when it was in the basement...so whatever we sold it for is great! It was a beautiful day yesterday...nice and sunny...so it was nice just hanging out outside with DH and the kids.

I REALLY can't believe how soon we leave!!! I MUST get busy with organizing, making signs, making lists and then crossing things off. Besides the cruise, we still haven't figured out what we are doing about decorating the house...I think we may do most of it on Thanksgiving Day. We are leaving bright and early the day after Thanksgiving and will be staying at Saratoga Springs for the 1st time on Friday night. We will be spending the afternoon at Epcot more than likely, "Soarin'" around and taking the 'Fast Track' thru the park :) and then we are off to dinner and the Candlelight Processional. We haven't done this yet so we are looking forward to it.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Hello again ...

Couple of questions:
1. Who is leaving early? We get to FLA on the Friday before we embark.
2. Does anyone have any tips on packing gowns/dresses and suits?
We are leaving Friday morning. Don't know if we will stay in Orlando or Cocoa as yet (still have over 2 weeks you know! :rotfl: ). Why you asking?

Good morning Banana Heads

Kelly ... great week here too with about the same forecast as you have. It's been so stinkin' cold that I'll take 50s and 60s gladly!

Kathy and Linda, my family stayed at Wilderness Lodge when it first opened ... wow, it was beautiful! We had rooms with balconies overlooking the woods and had the perfect seats for the nightly light show parade on the lake (I suppose that has an official name :confused3 ).

Shell, I hang the stuff in plastic cleaners bags and then interleave them in the suitcase still on the hangers. In otherwords, lay the bottom of the skirt in the suitcase with the top hanging over the top. Then lay the next garment in 1/4 turn with the top h aning over the side. Next garment goes 1/4 turn further. Then the first garment gets folded over, then the second, and so forth. it makes the folds padded and nothing gets creased. unfold and hang at destination.
Brilliant! That's exactly what I was looking for!

Uh ... because I'm nosy? :teeth: I also want to make sure that I know when to start worrying about each group getting to our destination :lmao:

See ya later

If this is (and I'm sure it is with all the :hyper2: that goes on here) a question that has been asked before, please forgive me. (I'm too tired and too darn lazy to go back and read the previous posts) Can I bring a case of bottled water with me on the ship?
For those of you that have gone before us; is it easy to use your debit card on the islands? I don't know if I should bring most of my fun money or leave it in my account and use my debit card. Thanks

Yes Kathy, I saw the news about Gatorland. What an awful fire. They said that it was contained to the gift shop and explained that the gift shop alone is about 7,000 sq. ft.

Woo - we are leaving early Sat. morning. We are staying in our family owned hotel Friday night. We have the king and queen suite! :goodvibes I'm going shopping on Friday! Priorities my friend! Besides, that's my birthday!
TTFN

Happy Monday morning everyone!!!

I'll need to make this quick -- time to get ready for work -- my laptop is on the fritz again. :badpc:

Jan -- thanks for the info!

Tonya -- thanks as well! I knew the "tasting sessions" would be serving samples; no way could I drink full sizes of the various drinks and make it out of there on my own! :lmao: :lmao: Not sure if I'm up for tequila shots, but we'll see.

Shell -- I'm sure you already knew, but we're arriving around 2:30 on Friday afternoon and will trek over to the Hyatt. Jeff & Lynn and families will be there Friday as well. Looks like I might be the first to see little Drew in person. :cool1: :cheer2:

Linda - thanks for the packing tip! I knew I'd read about using plastic bags to help decrease wrinkles but had forgotten HOW to use them!!!!

Kathy -- glad to hear you had a good time at WDW.

Someone had asked about excursions -- we haven't booked anything. On St. Maartin, I think we'll check out the casinos and then head to Little Divi Bay (or whatever it's called). I had read some decent reviews about it having calm waters and being family friendly & close to the ship. All is dependent on DD's activities for the day.

On St. Thomas, I may grab Lynn so she can shop for me!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sarah, like you, I'm not much of a shopper! I also have a hard time finding clothes that fit and look good. I find it much easier to shop for others.

Wendy -- since you won't be shopping on Friday before we cruise, you'll have to buy-out St Thomas -- they do give lots of extra allowances!

Seriously, I'm not really sure what we'll do on St.Thomas or St. John. I'm so glad to hear we'll be tendering to the port. :rolleyes1 NOT!! :sad2:

I had a mini-epiphany about my door signs, so I think I know how to fashion them. :thumbsup2 I told Jessalyn that we needed to make door signs to mark which room is ours. She promptly made paper signs with our names on them on hung them on our bedroom doors! :rotfl2: Not quite what I had in mind.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Cheri

P.S. So much for keeping this short!!

Pat: As long as you pack it in your checked baggage, it should be okay. That way, you can bring a suitcase of water, and then have plenty of room to take your shopping conquests home.

Can't speak for the islands, but I had no problem with it in Europe last year. Just use it as a Visa or Mastercard (whoever issues your debit card) and don't try and do PIN based transactions (not a good idea anyway). The merchants will run it through just like a VISA and you will sign a credit card slip. It will deduct from your account in a few days.

We are not our usual chatty selves today. What is wrong? Is everyone doing all right? :wave2:

Another thing about using a credit card out of the country. Make sure you tell your credit card company that you will be using it OUT OF THE COUNTRY. I would hate for them to deny you using it because they thought it was fraudulent. Just something else to do before you go.

Linda and the girls, just got my Tiara in the morning mail. I tried to wear it at work but everyone just looked at me funny. I guess I will wear it at home where I know i'm a princess.

Bob, your right we are too quite this morning. Woo & Mutt must be working hard this morning along with everyone else.

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a good weekend. On Friday night before the girls and I went to my parents for dinner my mother in law praised me on how good the bedrooms looked. I was so happy. And then Saturday afternoon I got a call from a band parent who asked me if I still needed I ride to Allentown for a band competion. I said yes and I was thrilled to go. I had only seen them one time and I really wanted to see them.

The North Penn marching knights have won the Group 6 Open championships for 10 years in a row.

Does anyone know when our cruise documents should be coming in the mail. I have been told two different things and I am confused. Do they come regular mail or UPS. Do they come two weeks or 10 days before. We are leaving on Nov. 24 and I am getting nervous. Did anyone get theirs yet.

Hey Lucinda! Great to hear from you! Glad that things went well over the weekend and you got some "me" time!

As for the cruise docs, it depends on if you used a TA or booked directly with DCL, and if you booked with a TA, which one you used. For some travel agents, Disney will send the documents to them, and then the TA will send them to you, thus slowing the process. I have heard of people getting them as much as 3 weeks prior, and some who don't get them but a few days before. They normally will come UPS, but I am sure that Kathy can provide much better insight than I!

I booked through DU and they told me 10 days. Then I called DCL and they told me 14 days. Is anyone else using DU.

TIA

Lucinda

Lucinda,
you mean you guys havnt got your docs yet???
They come UPS. Sometimes we have had to sign for them other times I have found them under my door matt and was glad nobody took them while I was gone.

I have been sitting outside enjoying the great 70 degree weather today.
But I see quite a few of you have been posting this morning, we may just make that 5000 posts yet!!

Oh, by the way, we havnt got our docs yet either :rotfl2: Gotcha ya!!
usually they come about 2 weeks out, but as Bob said if you used a TA it may take a few days longer. You can always print off docs on line and check in on line, then you just bring those papers with you instead of the docs you get via UPS.
Some people said it is faster to check in on line first, but we found out that we still did all the same stuff at the terminal to check in, so we are not going to do it again. It didnt save us anytime.

Kathy

Lucinda, we are using DU as well and no sign of documents!

I found it strange after you asked this question....I have not even thought about cruise documents this time around. We were so excited to get them on our first cruise, but I don't think I have even had the thought of "Gosh, I can't wait until they get here!" Hmmm...wonder why that is the case this time?

Hey everyone... I've been checking some of the other threads and the results I'm reading are pretty consistent. Most report doing the "doc dance" about 14-15 days out...
I'd imagine we should start looking for them Friday and beyond.
(I'm NOT obsessed....now you just HUSH with that talk.)

Have a good day, everyone.

ps... Hi wife! :wave2:

I know. it's shocking. But I have a real question re the cruise. We are taking DCL bus to the port but don't want to return that way because the airline we are on is not a check in at the port option (southwest) and I don't need to end my vacation hauling my bags all over MCO.

We want to take a towncar/van service back to MCO after the cruise. Who have you used? When do you tell them to show up? Is it as easy as the buses?

Thanks in advance.
jeff
