Good Morning All    ,
Happy Columbus Day :boat: :boat: :boat: !! Yes, Kathy I love Columbus Day for the SALES!!! Well DS and I are going to take part in the sales today!! Well I am going to get my wash in and get things done around the house so I get to the store early princess: princess: princess: !!

Danielle and Andy,
Are you still with us?? :confused3

It has been weeks since you have posted. :surfweb:

Please drop us a quick note to say your ok and still coming along.

I have been thinking about you guys lately, just want to make sure your both ok. :thumbsup2

Kathy

Count me among the draggin'! But, it's safer in here - i can't spend any money! Besides, misery, I have a dentist appointment this afternoon to start replacing my old fillings. :-(

Linda,
you have my sympathy!!!! :worried:

DENTIST!!!!!! YUCK!!!!!

I hate going!!!! :sad2:

Well at least with getting your fillings replaced now you wont loose one while eating on the cruise, that would ruin your trip for sure!!!

Kathy

Good morning Nanas!!

DD doesn't have school today so she and I will head to a few stores today -- Kohl's, Target, Disney Store. I had some coupons for Disney Store, but they expired 2 weeks ago. :furious: Oh well, hopefully they'll send me some new ones!

I heard the s-word mentioned on the weather last night, but didn't watch long enough to hear when. I'm in denial!

I don't want excessive snow/cold around Thanksgiving because I hate packing those jackets & cold-weather gear that we'll only need when getting out of and into Chicago. Once I start seeing palm trees, I'll know we're not in the Midwest anymore! :rotfl:

Gotta get some work done now since DH is graciously giving me the day off! Have a super day!

Cheri   :yay:

I'm right there with ya :sad2: My appointment for refill was next week but had to cancel due to g'kid sitting. Now I have to go Nov. 1 - I hate going but when all is said and done I'll be glad :teeth:

Kathy - I might see you at Bealls! I'll keep an eye out for you. Not too sure when or if I'm going though. I'm thinking of taking the loooooooong drive to Kohl's. I don't have kids today :cheer2: so I'm going to take advantage of my freedom :)
How do you like our weather today! GREAT isn't it :thumbsup2

Lynn - I have watched AMC for years and years. In fact, I have been watching since the very first show started. That was way back in my high school years! WOW! I use to be a faithful viewer, but now, only once in a while. I think I'm getting too old for it. They have so many younger problems now :rotfl2: When I tune in I think, Who is that? And Erica, she isn't the greatest actress. I hate that she never ages either! When my dad was very ill we moved him in with us and he would watch it daily :rotfl: He loved Erica.

Will check in later, going to go do :laundy: and catch up on some dusting.

So have you ever had it?? When I think raw eggs, I think of Rocky!!!! :rotfl:
I never had the traditional version. I couldn't bring myself to try it. The closest I came was one hotel restaurant in the Netherlands always brought out little complimentary appetizers for every meal, and one was steak tartare. It was in a small puff pastry shell, so you honestly could not taste the raw meat, so I can't offer an opinion on it.

So is scrapple similar to Spam???

I went to college in the town where Hormel makes Spam!! Plus my Brother-in-law works for Hormel so if anyone needs a shipment of the "potted meat," I can probably set you up!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
I will be honest, I do LOVE fried spam and eggs, though we don't eat it very frequently. I also enjoy potted meat with crackers and Vienna sausages. Yes, it is sad, I know! :sad2:

Steve, I gotta tell ya... the excitement of snow is a very very shortlived thing.
coldbanana.gif
When the first pretty snow hits, its always "ooh-ahhh" "Christmas is here, how nice"....but when the first Monday comes after a snow and you feel the road start to give way under your tires during the commute, it gets less " ooh, ahhh" and more "why aren't we with the smart people in Florida, St. Thomas, Nassau?". I'd love to wear shorts in December....oh, wait~ I WILL be! woohoo!

Happy Sunday to all
Mutt: They hated me in Detroit last year. I worked Mon - Thur in Detroit from mid-January until the end of March. I was loving the snow. I would sit there and look out the window or play in the hotel parking lot. Those people thought I was nuts! But of course, my drive to work was only 200 yards, and I really didn't have to go much farther for restaurants to eat at, so the snow didn't affect my life too much!

Okay, now that I have caught up on the 5 pages I missed over the weekend. It was a rough weekend for DW and I. Don't want to put a downer on the thread, but we had 2 very good friends killed in a small plane crash on Friday. A very precious couple we knew from church. They will be sorely missed. :sad1:

As for the up side, my GT Yellow Jackets pulled out a great come from behind win on Saturday. The game was a good escape from the events of Friday.

Sunday was a VERY busy day at church. DW and I teach a single adult Sunday School class, so we normally go out to lunch with them after church and then we have to be back in the afternoon for choir practice (no, I will NOT sing for you on the boat!).

Today begins another week on the bench, so I will enjoy it while I can. After this week, I will be on the road for at least 2 weeks in a row, and possibly a third week where I will go to Texas.

Have an awesome Monday everyone!

First, TiggerKing: Sorry to hear about your friends. It is very hard when you lose friends. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, along with the couples family members.

Dutchsmommy: Happy Thanksgiving. I think that's today. If not, :confused3 Happy Thanksgiving when it comes or if it's gone ;)

What is potted meat? Maybe I know, but just under a different name.

Whew :ssst: I thought you going to tell them when I growing up that I used to watch it with...

Uh-Oh I think I've said to much gotta go

Good morning, Banana Heads

First off, I think that our Banana count goals are way too easy if we're already over 6,000. So let's go for ... mmmm .... 10,000 by the cruise! I think we can DO IT!

Bob, Steve et al: SNOW IS NOT FUN! Yes, yes ... it's pretty the first couple of times each year when it doesn't stick to the roads and you can actually drive. And believe it or not (for those Christmas Story fans), the prettiest snow is always the one that is newly fallen on Christmas morning. Especially if the road crews are out cleaning it up :rotfl2: . However, the first time it takes you 4.5 hours to drive home from work (a 23 mile drive, mind you), you will curse like a sailor and swear you're moving to ... like ... Georgia or Florida.

Jan, the family of Bill's best friend (also Italian) is in New Castle, PA. Small world, huh? My grandpa was from Stefanaconi, Italy, which is a small village southeast of Naples in Calabria. My grandmother was from Pettorano, Italy, which is due east of Rome. I have been able to find documentation for both of them on the arrival in the U.S. on ellisisland.org. The site has the original ship manifests scanned for each passenger. Very cool.

Hey folks ... tired of merely dreaming about the cruise? There are NEW videos links on the DIS! Look above, click on Photos/Videos, and you'll see links for new videos of Cookies BBQ (Castaway Cay), Water Activities (Castaway Cay), Clubs & Shows (Wonder), Brunch at Palo (Magic).

Catch ya later!

I agree completely about the snow. I actually moved to Orange County, CA for a couple of years after I finished graduate school. And then came back to Pittsburgh. What's up with that? Turns out a happy story as I met my DW here...and there is nowhere I'd rather raise kids than in our community. Now if we can just find a way to stop the snow and cold from coming here... Whatever happened to global warming, Mr. Gore? :rotfl2:

Jan & Shell - My mom's family was from Florence and they have not been traceable to Ellis Island because they didn't come here soon enough to go that route. I was at Ellis Island a couple of years ago and tried to trace all kinds of folks but it seems all of our famiies (including my DW Greek parents) all came over too late or a different "route" to get counted among the Ellis Islanders.

I'm in a bit of a lull waiting for info from a bunch of sources to move forward with some projects. Just wish the banks were open today coz it'd be the perfect day to spend time cleaning up all the mess we made when we switched banks a couple weeks ago. Oh well. I guess I'll head to the gym instead.

Happy Monday everyone.

To be as talkative as youse guys (that's for Shell) were over the weekend, it is eerily quiet here this afternoon!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Hi,
Boy we have perfect weather today. There is no noticable humidity, a slight breeze, 80 degrees, clear blue skies!!!!
we have the S word here too, but it's SUNBURN!!

I took Minnie out for an early walk and it was so nice and she was so good that when we got back home , I took her for a 5 minute drive to a tiny park and took her on the walking trail there. It was her first time on a walk out of her neighborhood. She loved it!! She was so excited. She pulled alittle at first, which I expected, but she was soon walking as she should.
Then we met a man with a toy poodle out walking. we walked about 30 minutes, then came back home.
It was still so nice I went outside and we sat on the loung chair and took a nap. :goodvibes
So I never got to Bealls as I wanted , but maybe later. It was just too nice to be inside today.

Shell,

10,000  Boy you are ambitious, but i agree, we can make it if we try!!! :woohoo:
I hope you know after counting all of those  I will probably have night mares about  for months after the cruise :rotfl2:

Bob, thanks so much for using "northern speak" in your posts so that I completely understand what you're saying! You know, the US is just one big melting pot, and since you're being so darn conscientous about making sure that we northerners feel comfortable, I feel it's only fair that to return the favor. As such, I've been doing a little studying-up on "southern speak", so that when we-all meet y'all, there will be no misunderstandings. Here's what I have so far:

BARD - (verb) - Past tense of the infinitive "to borrow."
JAWJUH - (noun) - The State north of Florida. Capitol is Lanner.
SEED - (verb) - past tense of "to see".

How am I doing so far? :lmao:

Well, being the uneducated northerner that you are, there were of course several that you forgot:

WidjaDidja - (dependent clause) - A question, as in "You didn't bring your suitcase widjadidja?".
Tar - (noun) - The round, rubber obect on which a vehicle rides.
Tarred - (adjective) - The physical state of exhaustion, as in "I sure am tarred after going snorkeling."
European - (verb contraction) - to be in the process of going #1 in the bathroom

Youse guys? YOUSE guys? Bob... the 30's style-Al Capone gangster to average northerner ratio is pretty small. In other words, we don't all talk like Mugsy! (dag-un suth'nas).

You're not really gonna talk like that on the cruise, are you?(covering ears with paws)
