Does anyone here harvest and eat wild mushrooms?

Just picked this beauty in our front yard this morning and we had sautéed puffball on toast with garlic.

Love to hear from other Mycological lovers.

No, I called the poison control hotline when one of my 2 year old twins ate a mushroom in our yard. I'm not one to take chances of mistaking a poisonous mushroom for an edible mushroom.

We pick morels in the spring and eat those. I don't know enough about other types to tell a poisonous one from one that's fine to eat. Wish I did!

I don't know enough about them to know which are safe to eat and which are not.

Looks like the ones you posted though are the pufferball ones??? Safe to eat kind. They say you should wait until it cracks to cook it on sites I have seen.

If you do you will be sick as a dog! You eat puffballs when they are not mature they should be white on the inside and kind of like a marshmallow in consistency.

If you see any yellow, brown or black toss it.

Still here and not sick ;)

Same here! My 2 yr old ate a piece of one from our yard not that long ago and I was a wreck. I called the Dr who instructed me to call poison control. I had to take a picture with my phone and email it to them, then wait 20 long minutes for them to call me back to tell me it was non-toixic. Why takes chances?? I'll go to the grocery store and buy them if I really want some....

We had a thing here on the news recently that actually said that if the bulbous top is closed that it is poisonous, the website link states otherwise.

Would love to find morels!!!!!

My grandfather was italian and would take me out as a child mushroom hunting. I wish I had paid more attention but I was really young.

I ate a wild mushroom once and thought the stadium lights looked like pretty diamond bracelets. I have never eaten another mushroom.
