Ok, I'm going to sound really dumb here :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I have an iphone, so we will not be taking the laptop with us on our trip, so will be using the iphone to access internet and emails etc. Now it has wifi but I just don't completely understand how this wifi works or about the card. I do use wifi here at home with the phone, I had to enter a code the first time I used it at home and it now just works automatically whenever at home. I have been looking here about wifi and I see that you have a card? How does this work with the phone? Will this card allow you to access wifi over the whole of Disneyland or just at the hotel we are staying at (hotel new york)? Does the card have a code or something?

I would prefer to connect to the internet through the hotel as using the phone and internet overseas will be very expensive. When ever we have been overseas we have taken the laptop (even at WDW a few months ago) and there is a cable in the hotel room that you use and plug into the computer, but I can't plug the cable into the phone (I don't think).

I'm really sorry to sound stupid, but I just don't really understand how to connect to wifi at the hotel and how this card works (I can't put a card into the phone) Can someone explain to some poor person who clearly does not have a clue how technology works :lmao:

If you just use the iphone through a wi-fi connection abroad then you will only be charged by the company who supply the wi-fi connection. If you can find a free conection then there will be no charges for using wi-fi abroad*

*This is how it was explained to me by O2 on Sunday when buying my iPhone

Thanks Cap'njack :goodvibes .

I do know how to set the phone to automatically pick up any wifi that is near by, but I have to have a code or access code to access the wifi. How do I connect to wifi at Disneyland Paris, in particular in the Hotel New York? Do I get a code or password to gain access to the wifi? or is internet only available at Hotel New York by attaching a cable in your room to your computer. Will I not be able to access wifi (paid is fine) on my phone at Hotel New York?

Sorry, I'm just very new to this wifi thing :confused3 (can cope with connecting the cable in the room to the laptop, but am confused by this cableless connecting and what I read about buying a card from the gift shop to gain access at Disneyland Paris  )

No worries.

Don't know the answer to your other question I'm afraid although I'd love to know the answer.

I know that in McDonalds in the Village there is free wi-fi and you just ask any staff member for the code and then you can connect online and you don't need a wire or anything like that.

Oh Great :cool1: ! Thanks for that. Will head to McDonalds to check my email if I can not access it within the hotel :woohoo: .

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

To use wi-fi at at your hotel New York you have to pay.

We paid 15 euros for 10 hours usage

On the i phone go to SETTINGS - WI FI - and switch on WI FI . Choose network ( you have to choose Orange as that is the provider).

Then go to Safari and it will take you to the Orange WI FI homepage where you registar and pay which you can do before you go

The webpage is in french - www.orange-wifi.com

When you pay you will get a password and username which you enter via the orange homepage.

Do they change the code regularlly? Just wondering if it's infrequent enough to think about having in a sticky.

Do you have to be a paying customer to obtain the code? Please don't take this to suggest I'm cheap and want to swipe their wifi free of charge all the time - I'd be happy to spend some money in McDonalds occasionally in exchange for free wifi, but may not want something from there as frequently as I may wish to use the wifi (say twice a day for a short 5 or 10 minute burst).

the macdees in the village is just like any macdees wifi in england, no code is required its an open connection, that when you type in any address in your browser it takes you to a disclaimer page - click on accept then you are free to surf. They have added some blocks to keywords and certain ports since the summertime when it was compleately open, but for email and general browsing you will be fine. (they blocked the port I use to check my cctv :sad1: )
In the hotels you will nead a code from reception, usally your room number as the user name then somthing from them as a password.
