We're at OKW, and occasionally...or frequently...depending, have connection issues, getting booted off, etc. It's starting to appear as if my DH and I are "competing" for the WIFI (on 2 different laptops), and booting each other off. :confused3

Have other people had similar problems? Or is it me/us???

It just happened AGAIN, and my DH was NOT in the 'net. :confused3 Maybe it's heavy usage?

Thanks!

I was wondering if it was OKW, as in April we had NO trouble at Kidani.:confused3

I knew there were issues at at least some of the resorts, but this is the first that we've had trouble. Also the first that we've stayed at OKW. *sigh*

We were in building 31 at OKW in November and had no issues with wifi. We were using two laptops at the same time; neither of us were doing anything other than checking email & browsing the web. No streaming video or trying to upload anything. Last year when we were in building 46, we had lots of problems staying connected.

If you get a survey after your stay, be sure to tell them about your wi-fi problems. I did after our stay last October. Hoping they are using it to make the service better.

Also, if you have time, call the tech support number and complain (politely, of course). The more they get, the better our chances of getting at least acceptable service. And sometimes, there is actually something they can do to make your experience better.

FWIW, I strongly preferred the wired service & my own travel router.

Me too. I wish they would have both like they do at DL. I used my router on my last VGC stay in September.

I was at OKW in November. Some days it was fine, other days it kept kicking me off. Mornings were usually good.

We just returned from BWV and ahd no problems with the wifi. The woman at the front desk said they had just had and up grade.

Mornings are DEFINITELY better.

This morning, I also had a Windows crash on my laptop. Fortunately, we have DH's laptop with us, too.

The whole trip has been very frustrating. We both caught colds, I think from the plane. DH started out with what was left from a cold, and his almost always develops into bronchitis. So he's been in the room the whole time except for Sunday. My 88 yo mother caught nothing! Go figure. Anyway, she refuses a wheelchair, so she went into a park only one day. She and I are the only two going to dinner. The upside to that is it's cheaper!:lmao:

Ahhhh...I think solo trips are in my future, along with driving when DH comes along, and avoiding winter. Such is life!

Disney, however, COULD choose to fix the wifi....maybe...

If anyone depends on connectivity while you travel, you really owe it to yourself to have something you can use for backup connectivity. I often have to get a little bit of work done, even on vacation. I can tether through either my tablet (on Verizon) or my phone (on ATT)---I use different carriers specifically because sometimes one or the other has poor coverage wherever I happen to be.

Update.
It went from bad to worse. They sent my final bill (room charges) to my email. That's fine...they had my email address...I don't REALLY need a paper copy IF the bill is correct, etc. HOWEVER, I didn't even get to OPEN the attachment, as the internet went down...never to return...at 9 am on check-out day. :sad2:

I drove to the office and asked for a hard copy (so I could check the charges, as always). She told me I could check it from my smart phone. I replied with...we have "dumb phones." I don't have internet on my phone. (We're stay-at-home folks, and don't really NEED to have smart phones...yet.) She DID give me a hard copy, though. I made sure that she knew the internet was down, on the premise that the more complaints they receive, the greater the chances that it MIGHT get fixed. Big "MIGHT."

I WIL be sending an email to Member Satisfaction. I can't even imagine how frustrating it would be for those of you who have to work on vacation. But as Brian said, if you're in that situation, you should have multiple means of internet access.

For the rest of us, it's a big pain!

We checked ou of OKW on 12/12 and had no problems. I am reading someone's report at BCV and they have had problems.

We were at BLT in September and this was a continual problem while there. We didn't need to be online for work reasons so it wasn't a huge issue but it was annoying. We stayed at POR for the first couple of nights of our trip and had no wifi issues there at all.
