WiFi in Vegas

Having just returned from a great trip in Vegas I thought I would post on the subject.

There is free wifi just about everywhere in the south strip area ( Stratosphere south to Mandalay Bay ) at this point in time. This includes rooms and common areas in all the resorts. Also most shopping areas like Miracle Mile shops and the Forum Shops and Linq. It seems that they have done it right as signal strength was very good everywhere.

You went way down to the Stratosphere ? what you do there ? I use the wifi in room all the time but not much in other places

We were just out walking the strip to find out how good the wifi coverage was. This last trip we were using 3 phones to stream live through the whole trip and saving the streams on Ustream till I got home and transferred them to YouTube. We post to Facebook ALL THE TIME while out and about on vacation so wifi everywhere is a good thing for us 8-)

Thanks for the info! I am heading to LV next Friday and was wondering about coverage.

We were up and down the strip and found we had good signal strength everywhere. Back along the monorail it was a bit iffy. Resorts were again good signal strength and in the shopping areas ( Forum Shops, Miracle Mile Shops ). Compared to WDW you will be very happy with the coverage. Word of advice. If you have a email that you use as a spam dump, be ready to use it. While the wifi is free most spots require that you login with a email account. We've been back a month now and I have hardly gotten any spam and the few I have are for deals on rooms at the various resorts.

Hmmm... I only have my home and work email accounts. Will I get deluged with crappy spam offers for cheap booze and escorts??? lol!

I have used the free wifi from our hotel and never received any spam emails.

I'm assuming that the resort room offers came from logging in to wifi from locations like Linq, Miracle Mile and such. Basically the more public venue locations. Bellagio and Venetian as I recall also wanted a email for login. If it is a concern for anyone just open a Gmail account for the trip. It's not going to need to be checked, you just need a valid account to give them. I used my personal Xfinity account at about 18 different login points and have not had a problem having done so. We stayed at Luxor and also did not need to provide any info for wifi access.

And no, I have not gotten any escort spam LOL just room deals and maybe 8 of those total.

I don't stay at the local resorts , I stay at the Desert Rose Resort which is directly behind Hooter's and The Tropicana. I love it there. They have two bedrooms so quiet and peaceful. Even easy to walk to the strip. I don't even need to provide an email for using the wifi

Hope you had a great trip! I'd say post a trip report but we all know " What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas " 8-)
Lets just say that lost my new prescription glasses and a whack of money on Blackjack but I didn't lose my dignity... At least I don't think I did. :confused3

I fail to see how the major hotel/casinos VegasMike mentions like Bellagio, Venetian, Stratosphere, Mandalay Bay, and everything geographically in between can be deemed "local" resorts while an off-Strip property, isn't :confused3

We bought into it as a time share a long time ago. And it just happened to be very close. But you can also just use it like a hotel. It is very nice. I like it as they have unto 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, laundry facility, BBQ's, gym, pool, jacuzzi, and a baby pool. It is very quiet. And you can walk to the strip. No one says anyone here has to stay , I just made a mention of it.
