WiFi in the Sequoia lodge...

when I booked my imminent trip to DLP my travel agent assured me that there is WiFi access in the rooms at the Sequoia - which is one of the reasons I went for that particular hotel over the cheaper hotels

however I've found a thread on here that says only 20 of 1000 rooms have it - is this still true? (the thread is from 2006)

and if so, how do I find out if mine is one of the lucky rooms?

Because if not there's not much point me lugging my laptop over.

I am in one of the Montana rooms, lake view, if that helps.

Montana is in the main building, dunno about Wifi in the rooms but when we there last there was one man who seemed to spend his entire stay using his laptop in the childrens play area in the reception of the SL surfing the internet while his kids played in the play area. Don't think he ever moved from there and went into the park as he was there at Breakfast time and still there when we came back from the park at tea time 2 days running.

lol that's like people who spend all day every day by the side of the pool in Orlando hotels - I have never understood that!

so if there's nothing in the room I should get access by the kiddies play area then - that sounds fine - as I only need to check emails once a day and I'm sure my son will be happy to have a play for 20 mins while I do that.

Im sure you can always ring up the SL a week proir and ask to have a room with wifi access put on your notes so you maybe lucky when you check in to be allocated one.

I was the one who reported that, and as of earlier this year it is still the case. At least some of the documentation has been changed so that it doesn't mislead one into thinking that ALL the rooms have wifi. Sadly they have not updated everywhere, as your travel agent still has that impression. It is really very misleading, especially as they market towards business/conference travellers, and had it posted on their own website!

The wifi enabled rooms are generally top floor water view so if you have booked Montana lakeview, you can make a request in advance for one of those rooms, if available. Otherwise you would be pretty much out of luck and would have to use the wifi in the public areas.

You are best to buy the time directly from the site, rather than buying a prepaid card, as the shops are often out, or the staff know nothing about it.

when we stayed at sequoia it was so close to mcdonalds we just walked there and used wifi!

I had one that did not work. I asked in the store in the Disney hotel and they had changed the system

You can always buy them in the store in the Disney hotel.
