. when we stayed at Easter the room access was via an Ethernet cable, you were immediately directed to a Disney page where you signed up for your 24 hours at $9.99. When the 24 hours were up you were asked if you wanted to renew. The fee was added to your room bill. The same happened for the wifi in the lobby. Same fee at the summer but a different log in page to an external company. Didn't use the wifi but I presume Disney have out-sourced their Internet access.
That's our experience as well. We stayed at the Beach Club for 10 days at Easter and also spent a couple of nights there at the beginning of August

That's good news.
As I said, we only used the internet access in the room at the summer. Looks like we should have wandered down to reception with son and daughter's lovely shiny Macbooks and logged in for free. 
At Easter we had already bought the room internet so I think I assumed that was how we'd a connection. To be fair at Easter, we were there on our own and only had our Jurassic laptop (takes 15 minutes to boot up, battery only lasts 5 then very temperamental)
