Well, I called in to re-book last night and some interesting things happened and maybe the more knowledgeable can put my mind at rest on a few things.
Originally we had two reservations: my wife and me, 7 nights, for the CR, my-mother-in law, sister-in-law and her kid, also 7 nights, also at the CR. The reservations were split for payment purposes.
Called last night, got Tyrone. Very nice chap (although I will admit something sexist: we've called the line maybe ten times total over the last year or so and I ALWAYS prefer the women; until Tyrone last night, I had not had a good male handler). Anyway, he informed me he could switch out my CR recervation, still get a tower room, get the rebate. This he did.
Apparently.
Now on the boards this morning I'm reading that this does not seem likely, since the CR is well booked. Did my booker accidentally screw me over by mistaking his screen info? Am I staying in the Garden view now? Is that likely? Is it something that happens? Is CM error probable? Or is my sexist preference for female CMs, and my natural paranoia, just working overtime?
Anyway, I thanked him for the wonderful savings (supposedly $1755.00!--but it has not shown up on my credit card yet, so who really knows?) and tried to move on to my mother-in-law's reservation. This time he put me on hold and when he came back told me he couldn't switch it out.
Does this make sense? Did I happen to grab the last available tower room, or one that just happened to free up?
Anyway, he tried to explain to me why we couldn't repeat the process with the next reservation, but with the wife asking me questions to ask him at the same time, it all got pretty confusing/tiring.
Called again later, got another CM, a girl (but not as likeable/quick as Tyrone, ha ha!), and there was still nothing she could do. Anyway, I'm just wondering if the scenario I describe sounds plausible, or if I should worry that my reservation got mangled. I suppose tonight I can call up and check over the details of my reservation.
After all this, the wife noted by black mood at NOT getting the other discount (hey, another 1755!). She laughed and laughed, saying I was quite the nut. The MIL , SIL and niece staying somewhere else is not an option, so we're splitting the savings with them and leaving things as is. (If this seems generous I should add that the MIL is paying half our vacation).
Sorry about the long post.
