Today I was at Epcot (was a TON of fun btw) and in the late afternoon there was a sky message that read:

"U + GOD = :)"

Which I found to be very weird. Are sky messages a common thing?

this is a skywriter who has been doing this for many years. he uses his own plane and his own money to send mesages to everyone about God's love.
even though it looks like it, it isn't actually in disney's airspace. I saw it while at Typhoon Lagoon, and at our resort (riverside)

yeah, great to know the jerk is back...ugh wish someone would...well I'll get in trouble if I say what I'm thinkin

Well, I enjoy his messages and we live in America where we have freedom of speech. So more power to him. :goodvibes

I find it weird that this guy bothers people. I don't follow any religion, but I don't care what this guy writes in the sky. Just like I don't get offended when people say, "Bless you," after I sneeze. I have much bigger things to worry about, so he can write away.

My issue with it is that it intrudes upon my "Disney Reality."

If I'm at Disney, the only writing I want to see is "Have a Magical Day" written in pixie dust.

I suppose it can be likened to the banners that fly behind planes advertizing Ron Jon's (or in the past, Rosie O'Grady's).

I don't like any of them. :confused3

HAHAHA!!! I was just passing thru when I saw this and thought it was about this guy. I saw his Jesus "heart" U last year at DHS and took a picture of it. Had it as my background till the phone died; it always gathered a lot of attention lol!

We have seen him before. For some reason I am thinking it wasn't last year, but the trips before that.
I thought the little smilie face was cute. Then I realized it was a religious thing and it made me a little fidgety.

My philosophy is that if it makes him feel good, then why the heck not. Good for him.

Besides, I'd much rather have him putting his money and resources into sky writing than giving them to organizations that work to deny us our rights.:rolleyes1

I never looked at it this way! Thanks. You are so right!
I always found him a bit hypocritical in his christian way by doing this. But this is much better than giving money to some other places!

Now, I wanted to do one for Gay days. Why not? I bet the reaction would be overwhelming! ( And I am not saying I would do anything offensive). I looked into prices but then summer came up really quick and i got swamped with work!

This is my biggest issue with it. It is not over Disney property but it is obviously targeting them and it bugs me. I don't wanna see newspapers and I don't want to be reminded of a belief in a supreme being that is the basis for people wanting to take away our rights.

Rob you bring a good point, that he isn't on the ground giving it to other organizations, but it still pisses me off.

Yes, free speech, he can do what he wants, but it still bugs me. When I'm in Disney I'm in a non-homophobic bubble. I feel like I am backed 110% by the CMs and the company and this guy pops my bubble and reminds me of all the people who use Jesus as a reason to hate us.

The message didn't bother me. I was just wondering since it seemed so odd and rather "undisney".

Thanks for all the replies! My feet were killing me after Epcot yesterday.

I think the "art" of skywriting is really fascinating-whatever the message may be. It's a shame the message doesn't last very long. That must cost an absolute fortune.

I remember seeing a similar message back in May of 2008 at Epcot. I think it said "Jesus Loves You." My kids thought it was neat that an airplane could do such a cool thing!

Nothing was going on this past Feb. when I was there.

I would have such a headache if I were the pilot!!!

I saw this from my GF balcony last August. I considered it to be a bit of Mickey Magic! To each his own, I guess. :)
