Why do you stay at a Deluxe resort ??

The theme, pool, location of the Poly. You can't beat it.

The cast, the theming, the special perks (sunrise safari for example).

My favorite is the AKL followed by the PR. At the PR we always get a lagoon view CL room, and I love to watch the castle change colors all night.

1. Location, location, location.....when we stayed at AKL and OKW we probably spent a good 2 hours in transit each day back and forth on buses and getting to the buses and waiting for the buses...not to mention trying to fenagle (sp?) those strollers on those buses. The extra park time/pool time we get is well worth the extra money....but I only pay discounted rates...could never see paying full rack.

2. Size...we are a family of five and the extra room really helps out a bunch!

3. Theming...it really makes us "feel" like we're away from home and on vacation.

We stay there for the same reasons that we stay at the Moderates or Values -- because the resort will enhance our vacation experience somehow.

For example, if we plan on doing nothing but lounging around our resort, we would pick the GF or AKL (the ambience of those two places just can't be beat). If we plan on spending no time in our resort at all except for sleeping, we woud pick any of the DVC resorts (BWV, BCV, etc.). If we plan on experiencing something completely new and different, we would pick a resort that we have never stayed in before (currently, that leaves only the Dolphin, Beach Club, AS-Music, AS-Movies, Fort Wilderness Cabins, and Polynesian).

There are other times we pick a deluxe resort because we have something special planned at it. For example, we have a private function to attend. It's easier to prepare for that function and attend it if we are staying on its property.

Then there are other times we pick a resort simply because it's our heart's desire. We always pick a favorite when that happens. You just gotta listen to your heart every now and then, ~sigh.~

IF we ever go, we would stay at a deluxe because if we go, we probably will not go again. We would not go full out like at the GF or Polly, but probably somewhere like the YC, WL, BWI, or AKL, all in standard rooms.

We just love the convenience and feel of the GF. It is our favorite resort. It's very relaxing too. We go early in the morning to the parks and always come back for a swim/nap break in the afternoons (we go in July) and then return to the parks at night. We also like to spend some nights just swimming at the pool and watching the fireworks from our hotel.

We spend most of our park time at MK. GF has one stop on the mororail over to MK and is the first stop on the boat for the way back. Nothing like going to and from MK in 5 - 10 minutes for us.

The theme! I love the Yacht Club/Beach Club's themes. The pool is amazing, the location cant be beat, and I love the concierge!

Location!! Location!! Location!!

We love the Epcot resort area!! Broadwalk is our favorite for guest service and theming!! Worth every penny especially when we get into a villa.

Yep, location (tops list), theming, perks, and especily being DVC members, VB & BWV, the large villas for our adult children and their families when we all get together. Also, for me the resort and room are as much a part of my relaxing as is touring and having fun at the parks.

I agree with Location, Location, Location. Our favorite theme parks are Epcot and MGM so the BW, BC YC are perfect.

Deluxe resorts just make us feel special. Just a warning to anyone who has never stayed at a Deluxe. If you do it'll be hard to go back to a moderate or value.

When I was booking our first trip in 2000, I picked the Polyensian because of the size of the rooms, location & the theme. We've back many times since and still love it!

I love the rooms too.....but being close to everything is wonderful!!! Poly is a fave of ours. This trip we are staying at the newly renovated SOG.....since we are elgible. It is just short walk to the Poly to catch the monorail. Contemp. was fun years ago...when we stayed in the main bldg......but the last time we were in the north wing.....it was run down.

The feeling I get when I walk into the main lobby and walk through the resort, the castmembers, and the general ambiance of the resort. AKL is our favorite with the Swan being #2. While I haven't spent the night at all of the deluxe resorts, I have been to most of them to eat and check out their lobby/common areas.

Well GF is my favorite. The reason I love it is because I love to ride back from the MK at night on the motor launches. I also love watching the electric parade and the castle from my room, or even the fireworks (which are also great from the dock). I love all the great children's programs available for my son, and we love the pools--especially the waterfall pool because if you are swimming in it and look toward the lagoon, it looks as if the pool is going right into the lagoon water because it is zero entry! All the cute ducks walking around near the lagoon are great, too, as is the white sand beach and the beach swing at night, just watching the view of the Poly's torches. I love the GFs lobby, the live music while you walk around, all the elegant eateries, and the high tea! The high tea is fantastic. I had my birthday there twice and they give you a huge cupcake and sing. My son loves to do that because he gets to eat the cupcake!! We've had wonderful service there and met plenty of very nice other guests. I try other resorts (usually deluxes) out of curiosity, variety or for a different vantage point to the resorts, but the GF is where I feel at home!
