Why would you ask if someone is pregnant....

Back in 2001, I kept getting asked by people when I was due. I had to keep telling them I was not pregnant.

One night in June that year, I was having really bad pains in my side and my best friend took me to the emergency room. When we got there, the admitting nurse asked me the normal question of if I was pregnant or not. When I answered no, she looked at me and asked me if I was sure. I was positive since I hadn't had sex for quite a while prior to then. She asked me again if I was positive. When I said absolutely, she looked at my friend asn asked her if I was pregnant. The nurse just wouldn't believe me since I looked several months pregnant.

Turned out that I had a 14 pound ovarian cyst they removed a week later.

Anyway, some clothes can make a woman look pregnant. Especially if she's overweight. But I will never ask a person if she is or not unless she brings it up first.

We honeymooned at WDW and they made a mistake on our reservations. We had to transfer hotels, so they had a white Disney van take us to the right hotel. The driver got out and opened the doors and put a little step stool on the driveway. When we arrived he hopped out again and put the stool down and helped me out. He said, "Are you here for one last trip before the baby comes?" and I looked at DH like, who's BABY? I told him that we were on our honeymoon and not expecting anything but a good time on vacation.

I was wearing a strapless babydoll top with the elastic at the top, so it was flowy but clearly NOT maternity. I think he wanted to crawl under the van and said he was sorry about 20 times. He didn't help us with our luggage either, I guess I didn't deserve it anymore. :rotfl:

I've been asked this a few times when I'm wearing the empire waist baby doll tops that are so in style. I suppose they DO look like maternity tops!

:rotfl::rotfl:They do! I took a bunch on vacation last year and when I got home and looked at the pictures I couldn't believe how heavy/pregnant the shirts made me look! I went to my closet and gave them all to Goodwill. The flowy/empire waist/tunic types of shirts sure are comfy but they are NOT flattering!

Just be thankful you look young enough to be pregnant!!! When my dd was about a year old or so a couple of people at Publix kept asking me if she was my GRAND DAUGHTER!!! Yes I was an older Mom (36 when she was born) but GEE WIZ!!!:confused3

a few years ago, I was heavier ( 5'11'', size 18/20), but I didn't look pregnant...I had a rude woman in the office I worked at, bring in a bag of maternity clothes...and tell me I could have them. I said I wasn't pregnant...she said, "well, you're a big girl, and I was your size when i was pregnant...so I figured you could use these.":headache:

Wow and your not in jail. I would have strangled her.

Oh my goodness! I hope that you are better now.

That happened to me once when my youngest was an infant. I was exhausted because he wouldn't sleep at night and I was really stressed with other family stuff so I must have really looked a fright - I was 37 but probably looked 107! The cashier at the grocery store was more embarrassed than I was upset. I don't think she will make that mistake again.

Yes, I have been asked if I am pregnant and my repsonse is always "No, just fat".

OK this is kinda scary... I have been having really bad pains in my side yesterday and today and today I have been very sick to my stomach... I guess I will see what happens, I do have a history of an ovarian cyst when I was 14...man I hope this isn't what it is and that I just need to loose a few pounds

Yes I have been asked and its very embarassing and offensive. One time the UPS guy on the sly asked me when I was due and I looked at him like what  and he quickly changed the subject to like are you due for a vacation something like that. I may have a large stomach but no way shape or form am I pregnant. I wish people would think before they speak. That is not an appropriate question to ask a woman unless you know for sure they are pregnant from there mouth!

When I started my student teaching, our para was 7 months along. I would often look at her and wonder, but I never said anything. I think I was there for a couple of weeks before I found out that yes she was. My mentor teacher thought it was hilarious that I didn't know for sure that she was and hadn't asked!
