Why would a dog eat a box of Tic Tacs?

Just wondering out loud...

It's not like a dog cares if his breath is fresh, right?

Did he eat the box too?? Our old Black Lab ate a bowlful of candy kisses, foil and all, at my ILs house while they were out; had sat and watched my SIL eating a few before she left. (She took the wrappers off tho. ;))

My cousins dog decided to eat some sugar free gum one day, maybe she was also concerned about her breath?

As an important PSA though - if a dog eats anything "sugar free" be sure to call the vet right away! There is an ingredient in many sugar free gums, Xylitol, and candies that is toxic to dogs, my cousins dog was in the ICU at the animal hospital for a few days because of that gum incident

It must be a self-conscious thing...

Our old dog used to love himself a stick of gum!

Maybe the dog had eaten some poop (earlier thread) and just couldn't get that taste out of it's mouth? :confused3

my doggie is a tic tac addict.....if I am eating one she comes up into my face and almost puts her tongue in there to get it out......
when our other dalmatian went to obedience school .....tic tac made her sit and stay .....it was always between my fingers....to funny

But try and give the same dog a pill to take :confused3
Maybe that is what vets need to do, sugar coat color and all we do is let it lay on the floor.

:lmao: Our current dog is AWFUL about pills. Had Lyme Disease last summer, and was taking 4 pills daily. DH found a little collection of them on the porch where he'd spit them out.

He crunched the plastic box into pieces and ate the Tic Tacs. I don't think he ate any of the plastic.

Another time, he ate a whole tube of Mentos. I'd never have thought a dog would like mint flavoring.

I don't have any problems getting him to take pills. Fortunately, he's a pretty healthy pup and doesn't need them often, but when he does, I put the pill inside a cube of cheese. Max loves cheese!

My dog ate a container of Ferrero Rocher, in the plastic tree and cellophane wrapper my DH bought me for Christmas this included some of the plastic. She then ate 2 batches of cookies, and a box of chocolate covered cherries. All in less than a week. She didn't even get gassy. This same dog also ate light bulbs, not little tree ones, but regular 100 watt light bulbs when she was a pup. One loaf of bread later, vets instructions, she was fine. We have decided she is part goat. :lmao:

Is she part labrador retriever? Mine is, and he definitely has goat-like tendencies. No light bulbs, but he did eat a shingle with a roofing nail stuck through it once. Fortunately, he barfed it up later and was none the worse for the wear.

Oh gosh, you have me laughing so hard here!!! I can see my dog doing that. She's a yellow lab, and as you said, yes, she is part goat... part pig too, she snorts!

I think the worse thing she ever got into was a bag of candy corn. She ate that and was so sick when I got home and found out she had gotten into it! (It was a closed bag but we had forgotten to take it off of the floor)

I still have red stains on the carpet from that incident. I felt so bad for her because she was so sick!

A dog that my sister used to have liked to eat toothpaste. Maybe some of them just really like the taste of mint?

At least your dog is understands your need not to have nasty dog breath. My dog huffs and puffs and it is like a sweathouse gone wrong.

Our first St. Bernard ate all the dried jalapeno peppers (at least 30-40 peppers) off a plant we had hanging upside down in the garage to dry one summer. Trust me, after all that, he could have used a few tic-tacs...

No, my Nikki is a boxer/shepherd/cattle dog mix. She just likes to eat things she shouldn't and nothing gets in her way. It just amazes me that she never gets sick.
