Why won't the bank give us money bags anymore?

Hi guys

I went to our bank last week to ask for some plastic money bags and the cashier said "Did I have a commercial account? we only give them to business account holders!"

Rahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I was a bit miffed, I have an account for which I pay the privilage for having every month. Why can't I have some?

I wanted the bags to take our change pot money into the bank, we collect all our silver at the end of each week and save it for our counter service meals on our trips.

Anyone else experienced this? Which banks will give me some? lol

I got some from Natwest the other week, unless they've stopped it since then? Try another bank and just ask for some bags. lol

I get them with no problem from my bank (HSBC).

Just put all the change in a carrier bag and dump it on the counter, they'll soon get the message.

in reality they should only take change from bussneses, they charge them for the privalge, and they alow children to take in around £5to put into there savings account,if you go with a carrier bag full they can refuse to take it
One of the reasons you see those change machines at supermarkets

Try the Post Office too, they have bags.

Can't understand why they wouldn't give you any bags though, even if you're not a business customer. Next thing we know they'll be charging for them!

Oh dear! I'm with Nationwide but have a backlog of bags as I don't tend to accumulate much change so I guess i'll have to make sure I get them back each time ;)

My bank, the Abbey give out the bags feely but will only accept 5 filled bags per visit.

i used to work for a building society, it's pretty hard to keep a good stock of the bags, i'd try the post office, when our supplies ran low, we used to get them from there, they've always got loads!!

That is what I dislike about banks, money is money at the end of the day. I'm fortunate in that my bank lets you pay in any amount of bag of coins.

I'm with halifax and, although they will hand out bags (when they have them available) they only allow adults to pay in up to 5 bags per day. No limit on bags for children's accounts though. I tend to pay coppers into the kids accounts and the silver/£2 coins into ours.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I forgot to say we bank with Nat West lol.

I will try the post office or I might chance my luck with a different cashier, maybe the one I asked couldn't be bothered, it was a Friday afternoon.

Otherwise I'll take Wickseys advice and take a large carrier bag he he he he :)

Thanks
