Why so much love/crushes on Hugh Laurie/House?

Is it Hugh Laurie or is it his character House that you all adore? I only ask because his bedside manner as a doctor (House that is) stinks....I would die if IRL my doctor or my loved one's doctor treated me the way he treats patients (and their family). Obviously it doesn't prevent me from watching the show as I do enjoy it but I always think House is being a **** with the way he speaks to patients.

For me it's the House Character. He is a bad boy with a heart ... a diamon in the rough. Don't all women think they are the one he needs in his life to be happy and scare away all his demons?

Cause I do not think I would care if House treated me like crap. If I was so sick and no one knew what I had, he could make fun of me all day if he got the right diagnosis.

It is his medical skills that would draw me to him - not his bedside manner.

I watched about 5 minutes of the first episode -- House walked up to a meds cabinet and popped a handful of painkillers into his hand, easy as you please.

Simply not going to happen in real life, so I gave up right there. I'd like SOME semblence of reality in my television dramas.

You dont think doctors can/have gotten addicted to pain pills? Wow... I'd say it's very realistic (at least that part).....

I love to watch snarky on television. I wouldn't necessarily want to live with someone who is that snarky but I enjoy watching it from a distance.

He says the things that I think, but would never have the guts to say out loud! hahaha !!

Hugh Laurie is absolutely BEAUTIFUL !! He has the sexiest eyes I have ever seen !!!
And I love his accent (in real life, he doesnt really have one on tv), and his dry British humour!

So it's a crush on the character and the man who plays him !!

I so agree with you. I gave up watching somewhere a couple of weeks into the first season.

There is nothing realistic about taking controlled drugs from a cabinet in any hospital. Each and everyone of those pills are counted twice per shift.

Before I started watching House, I saw Hugh Laurie accept an award on the Golden Globes or SAG awards, one of those shows. He said he didn't have time to thank everyone, so he had written the names of the people on slips of paper, and he pulled 3 out of his pocket. He ended up thanking like a director, his hairdresser and the girl who delivers his scripts. It was a nice way to do it, and some people who don't normally get thanked got thanked.

For some I'm sure it's the 'fix it' syndrome- just look at Cameron, she didn't want him anymore when his leg worked...

What Dawn said -- the cabinets are locked, there are people in charge of dispensing meds (docs don't just walk up and take what they need), and they're very closely monitored as to quantity.

Drug abuse is a problem in the medical community, but believe us -- they have to be more creative than that!

But..its a drama... really, how realistic are most shows now anyways?
(Aside from the reality shows that saturate our evenings)
